Outreach Plan:

A regional IGF is a great opportunity to connect with people with an interest in Internet governance issues, and some familiarity with ICANN. Building on this familiarity, the plan is to acquaint people with NCUC during the two workshops. The workshop on Civil Society and Internet Governance in Asia Pacific is an ideal opportunity for overall awareness building and engagement about NCUC areas of interests and activities. The workshop on Internet Architecture and Human Rights can be used for a more focused overview of the extensive work being carried out by the Cross Community Working Party on human rights. I also plan to give a quick overview of the recently started PDPs that remain open to new members- new WHOIS, new gTLDs and RPM review.

The target audience for these talks will be regional civil society organizations, particularly those working on upholding human rights online. Being fairly new to ICANN and NCUC myself, the aim of the talks is to explain how newcomers can participate in the bottom-up multistakeholder approach of ICANN, and how NCUC represents the interests of a large population of the Internet community- the noncommercial user- in order to raise awareness both about ICANN processes, in general, and NCUC, in particular. Conversations will also be aimed at enhancing participation of existing members.

11) Additional Information (optional):

I have been invited to participate in the following proposed workshops-

  1. Civil Society and Internet Governance in Asia Pacific (https://apps.2016.rigf.asia/submission/proposaldetail?id=42)
  2. Internet Architecture and Human Rights (https://apps.2016.rigf.asia/submission/proposaldetail?id=74
