1. Results of the 2nd Summit Survey

The Staff said that they were concerned about the technical difficulties that occurred in the second summit survey and will further look into this matter.
The Staff will add the paper ballots to the results of the online vote before publication. The interim results can be found here

The Staff noted that an email with the specifications that could have led to the problems was sent to the summit distribution list on January 8th.

2. Formation and Operation of Working Groups

It was decided to go ahead with the following seven issues (including responsible leads) :

  • At-Large engagement in ICANN (Including goals, organization (ALS, RALO, ALAC), reviews, strategic planning, Individual Internet users participation, etc.)

  • 2 The Future Structure and Governance of ICANN (the Improving Institutional Confidence process)

  • 3 New Generic Top-Level Domains (gTLDs) including IDN gTLDs

  • 4 ICANN Transparency and Accountability

Lead: W Kleinwaechter, A Peake

  • 5 DNS Security Issues within ICANN’s Remit

  • 6 Internationalised Domain Names (IDNs) and ccTLDs

  • 7 IPv4 to IPv6 Migration (issues related to end-users)

3. Review and Approval of Summit Programme and Room Requirements

A discussion was held on the summit programme v3. W Ludwig will send an updated summit programme including the changes agreed to in this meeting to the summit list shortly.

4. Travel and Meeting Planner Update

The Staff gave a short update on the latest activities in relation to travel bookings.

Agenda items 5 and 6 will be carried over to the next meeting, which will be held on Tuesday, 20 January 2009 at 2030 UTC.
