Motivation: I am keenly interested in and have focused much of my professional career on improving the security and stability of the Internet infrastructure.  The root server system and RSSAC are a crucial part of ensuring security and stability are maintained for all the users of the Internet.  The RSSAC is in the unique position to develop and provide technically based advice that can facilitate sound operations of the root server system as well as essential input to the multistakeholder policy development which is critical for Internet security and stability for both current and future users.

 

Indication of availability, not a formal commitment:  I can work on RSSAC documents for about 10 hours per month in addition to formal RSSAC business.

Relevant Qualifications:

- Engaged in various aspects of the Internet name infrastructure since 1980's when my primary focus was migrating a portion of the research centric ARPAnet to large scale operational use by the US DOD.

- Extensive engagement in definition, development, and deployment of DNS Security Extensions (DNSSEC) throughout the Internet including its use in the root zone.

- Active participant in the ICANN Security and Stability Advisory Committee (SSAC) where my primary focus has been DNS related issues. 

 

Formal roles and interests in the work area of RSSAC: 

- SSAC Liaison to the RSSAC

- Employed by Parsons (www.parsons.com) as Principal Networking Scientist where I lead a group of researchers, engineers and developers who's work primarily focuses on improving the security of the Internet infrastructure.
