Kieron O'Hara is a philosopher, computer scientist, and political writer. He is an emeritus fellow in Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton. He had a central involvement in the development of the discipline of Web Science, and specializes in the politics, philosophy, and epistemology of technology, particularly the World Wide Web.
He is a graduate of the University of Oxford and the University of St Andrews and the co-author of “Four Internets: Data, Geopolitics and the Governance of Cyberspace” with Dame Wendy Hall, published in 2021, discussing different global approaches to Internet governance, and the concept of the Splinternet. He is the author of several other books, and his next will be The Seven Veils of Privacy, due in 2023.
