STATUS UPDATES
Date | Phase | Type | Status Updates |
---|---|---|---|
| Phase 4 | Dependencies | As this is a policy matter and the topic is in the work plan for the EPDP Phase 2, the Board notes this advice and refers to the GNSO Council as the manager of PDPs. Pending the closure of the SSAD ODP. |
| Phase 4 | Phase Change | Now in Phase 4: Deferred |
| Phase 4 | AP Feedback | Based on feedback from the SSAC, this item should be kept in Phase 4 until close of the SSAD ODP. |
| Phase 5 | AP Feedback | This should be deferred pending EPDP not closed. |
| Phase 5 | AP Feedback | SSAC acknowledged the June 2019 notification and agreed with the ARR Team's classification of moving this item to "Phase 5 | Close Request". |
| Phase 5 | Phase Update | On 23 June 2019 the ICANN Board considered SAC101v2 and noted advice items 2A and three through seven in SAC101 version 2 and referred them to the GNSO Council for consideration for inclusion in the EPDP Phase 2 work (https://www.icann.org/resources/board-material/resolutions-2019-06-23-en#1.c). In its rationale the Board states "Advice item three suggests that the 'Board and EPDP policy-makers should ensure that security practitioners and law enforcement authorities have access to domain name contact data, via RDDS, to the full extent allowed by applicable law.' As this is a policy matter and the topic is in the work plan for the EPDP Phase 2, the Board notes this advice and refers to the GNSO Council as the manager of PDPs." |

| Phase 3 | Board Update | Resolved (2019.06.23.06), the Board notes advice items 2A and three through seven in SAC101 version 2 and refers them to the GNSO Council for consideration for inclusion in the EPDP Phase 2 work. See full resolution at https://www.icann.org/en/board-activities-and-meetings/materials/approved-resolutions-regular-meeting-of-the-icann-board-open-session-23-06-2019-en#1.c. |
| Phase 2 | AP Feedback | SSAC confirmed understanding and added the following comments: This recommendation is relevant to the results of the current ePDP that is examining the Temp Spec. The eDPD may not deliver results consistent with Recommendation R-3. The SSAC also notes that the current ePDP is ending without completing its charter mandate to discuss reasonable access and an accredited access mechanisms for security practitioners and law enforcement. SSAC has urged that that work be addressed by having the GNSO and Board authorize a subsequent policy-development process with an aggressive deadline -- see also SAC104. |
| Phase 2 | Board Understanding | The ICANN organization understands SAC101v2 Recommendation 3 to mean that the ICANN Board and EPDP policy-makers should ensure that security practitioners and law enforcement authorities have access to domain name contact data, via RDDS, to the fullest extent allowed by applicable law. |
