The Country Code Names Supporting Organization (ccNSO) is responsible for developing global policies for country-code Top-Level Domains (ccTLD), promoting consensus within the ccNSO community and coordinating with other Supporting Organizations, committees and constituencies.  For more information on the ccNSO, click here.

ccNSO Organizational Review

The goal of the review, to be undertaken pursuant to such criteria and standards as the Board shall direct, shall be to determine (i) whether that organization, council or committee has a continuing purpose in the ICANN structure, (ii) if so, whether any change in structure or operations is desirable to improve its effectiveness and (iii) whether that organization, council or committee is accountable to its constituencies, stakeholder groups, organizations and other stakeholders.

These periodic reviews shall be conducted no less frequently than every five years, based on feasibility as determined by the Board. Each five-year cycle will be computed from the moment of the reception by the Board of the final report of the relevant review Working Group.

Feasibility Assessment and Initial Implementation Plan - 24 June 2020

ccNSO conducted a Feasibility Assessment and initial implementation plan with respect to the recommendations submitted in the Independent Examiner’s final report, and submitted it to the Organizational Effectiveness Committee (OEC). The Assessment contained a response to the findings and the recommendations, including rationale in cases of disagreement, as well as initial thoughts on how the recommendations that are addressed at the ccNSO can/will be implemented.

Draft Final Report of The Second Country Code Names Supporting Organization Review (ccNSO2) - 17 June 2019

Meridian Institute, the independent examiner conducting the second Country Code Names Supporting Organization Review (ccNSO2), has published its draft final report for public comment. Meridian Institute will present the draft final report to the community during ICANN65 on 26 June 2019 in Marrakech, Morocco, and during a webinar on 10 July 2019 at 19:00 UTC.

Public Session at ICANN64, Kobe: cNSO Review - Community Consultation on the Assessment Phase

In this interactive session, Meridian Institute, the independent examiner conducting the second ccNSO Review, will provide an overview of findings in its assessment report from the initial data collection and analysis phase of the review. Following the overview, attendees will be invited to share feedback on the findings by participating in a consultation exercise and collective discussion.

Meridian Institute to Conduct the Second ccNSO Review

31 August 2018 - ICANN has appointed Meridian Institute to conduct the second independent review of the Country Code Names Supporting Organization (ccNSO).
