FINAL VERSION TO BE SUBMITTED IF RATIFIED

The final version to be submitted, if the draft is ratified, will be placed here by upon completion of the vote.

FINAL DRAFT VERSION TO BE VOTED UPON BY THE ALAC

The final draft version to be voted upon by the ALAC will be placed here before the vote is to begin.

The At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC) welcomes the opportunity to comment on the Proposed Fundamental Bylaws Changes to Move the Board Governance Committee’s Reconsideration Process Responsibilities to Another Board Committee and hereby submits its comments to help in this process:

  1. The ALAC recognizes the effort made to carry out this first use of the Empowered Community powers in an open and inclusive manner by calling for input from the different Supporting Organizations and Advisory Committees that form ICANN;
  2. Recognizing the power the Board has to establish Committees as it believes will best suit the Board’s needs, the ALAC would like to have a deeper knowledge on the scope of the proposed new Committee as the draft Charter leaves room for ambiguity.

In consideration of the aforementioned recognitions, the ALAC would like to request a more complete draft Committee Charter in order to better understand how this would impact ICANN’s overall activity and the impact it could have on end users.

  1. Thanks Leon, since a draft charter was provided(I have not been able to open that file on my mobile), I think it will be good to highlight the specific ambiguities observed in the charter in our statement.
    1. There are no ambiguities. There's, to my mind, a lack of information as to the full scope of the Committee

  2. Leon, Your point No. 1 seems rather gratuitous given that Bylaw 25.2(c) requires the Board to post a proposed Fundamental Bylaw for Public Comment.

    1. So you are suggesting to strike it?

      1. I was but apparently it has already been submitted. So too late...
