Trip Assessment Form

LINK TO TRIP PROPOSAL: IPC Trip Proposal 1

1) Describe the Trip in sufficient detail
that an interested reader could understand Who,
What, When, Where, and Why concerning this
funded CROP activity (please be as expansive
as possible):

The trip was to speak at a conference held by the International Anti-Counterfeiting Coalition (iacc.org) in Seattle, Washington in May, 2018.   The purpose of the speech was to explain the changes to WHOIS data access in light of GDPR implementation, and how that would affect the audience’s ability to investigate/enforce against online counterfeiting/infringement, and explain ICANN/IPC’s role/opportunities to address the WHOIS issues.

2) Explain the extent to which the Proposed
Goals and Outcomes were accomplished
(see above LINK to review the original Proposal):

The time for the speech was shortened due to other panels that ran over time, so the speech went much faster / glossed over some items.  However, there were several questions/conversations about limits on WHOIS after the fact, so it was helpful in raising awareness of the issue.

3) Additional information pertaining
to this outreach Trip (optional):

7/6/18 – note I had several technical difficulties trying to get to the form, and eventually, the IPC secretariat offered to submit this information on my behalf.

4) Please fill out the date when you have completed this form:06-Jul-2018
