10) Proposed Goals and Outcomes:

CaribNOG ( The Caribbean Network Operators Group ) is a community of network operators and other stakeholders committed to the Caribbean region. The CaribNOG meetings provide an excellent opportunity to interact with stakeholder organisations and individuals who have already demonstrated some interest in the Internet space, and the DNS. Goals of participation in this meeting will include: 1) Meeting with the current ALSes in Jamaica and any others from the region who may attend, to increase their participation in At Large activities; 2) to connect with potential At LArge members and encourage them to particiapte in At Large activities; 3) to raise the profile of ICANN At Large among the regional Internet stakeholders. To this end, I can use the speaking slot on the agenda that has been offered to me as a past speaker and panelist at CaribNOG events to raise the profile of the At-Large. As a past ALAC Chair, and a participant and volunteer in ICANN for 10 years, I can draw on my deep knowledge of ICANN and the At-Large to respond to any questions on ICANN and the At Large. Outcomes that I expect will be: 1) Increased participation by regional stakeholders in At Large, via all the various means of participation; 2) Increased interest in the ICANN At-Large from regional stakeholders and oher interested persons 3) Greater awareness of the At Large and its work by other stakeholders in the region.
11) Additional Information (optional):

Given that Montego Bay is a resort area, and that most of the groups and organisations which could be extremely interested in becoming ALSes do not work in that area, but in the capital city, Kingston, which is several hours away from the resort venue; it may be useful to build in a day to travel to Kingston and meet with these organisations. I am aware that CROPP funding does not extend to this, but maybe GSE might be willing to set up "An afternoon with ICANN" type of event in Kingston to coincide with and support the outreach programme.
