DESCRIPTION

The RSSAC recommends that the ICANN Board refer to RSSAC037, section 5.5.3 to estimate the costs of the RSS and developing the Model. Initial efforts should focus on developing a timeline for costing these. The RSSAC estimates the suggested costing effort should not take more than six months.


DEPENDENCIES

Pending the Root Server System Governance Working Group (GWG) work to develop a final governance model for the Root Server System and the GWG's cost of the final governance model. The GWG is targeting July 2024 to publish its proposal.

The ICANN Board Concept Paper outlines a community-driven process to develop a final model for the RSS to be led by the Root Server System Governance Working Group (GWG). To launch the work of the GWG, ICANN org developed a draft charter and operating procedures and a draft work plan. RSSAC037, the ICANN Board Concept Paper, and the draft charter and operating procedures and draft work plan for the GWG are ready for Public Comment.
