2) Special Travel Circumstances, Arrangements,
Explanations, or Notations:
(Please identify each traveler, as applicable)
As the event starts with workshops and trainings, the Conference segment of the AIS is my target for outreach. Hence, I plan on staying a week at the Conference. I have no peculiar health conditions except for pains in my knee when cramped in a seat for a stretch of 3 hours flying, but my selection of a seat by the emergency exit which provides more leg room to stretch compensates for the stress. I request that the CROP approval also cover the cost of securing a visa to DRC.
3) Event/Conference Name, Title, or Descriptor:
The event is the AFRICA INTERNET SUMMIT' 2020 and it is holding in KINSHASA, DR CONGO from the 31st May till the 12th June 2020. The Africa Internet Summit (AIS) is an annual, regional, multi-stakeholder ICT conference holding in Africa and it is the pinnacle of educational and business ICT events on the Continent, where key players in the Internet industry can interact with the global Internet community.

9) Proposed Goals and Outcomes:

Content Guidelines (click here)

Improving on efforts at outreach in the last year which attracted 3 new members into the Business Constituency of ICANN, I will be manning a BC Stand at the ICANN Boot for 4 days during the conference, interacting with participants interested in the BC and would make available copies of the BC fact-sheets, media prints and ICANN Info-graphics. Copies of these fore mentioned materials would also be placed at strategic points around the conference venue and distributed at other business sessions during the conference.

My Proposed Outreach Outcome and Goals would see that:

  1. This Outreach activity hopefully would result in at least 5 new membership applications from the African region after the Summit.
  2. Businesses would be better informed about how to on-board into the BC and more awareness created locally about the BC and how businesses engage in the constituency.
  3. I would enhance the presence of the BC and would allow for more visibility across the Continent among diverse stakeholders participating at the summit. It would be an opportunity to promote our values, mission and objectives, our stakes in the empowered community and crucial role in the overall stability, reliability and resiliency of the Internet.
  4. Membership diversity is important for the BC and this outreach event will foster diversity within BC as new participants join our constituency to contribute to its diversity.
  5. I would serve as a resource representing Business at the ICANN Day event and provide insights to how business engage in ICANN and the benefits for membership.

10) Additional Information (optional):

Working in conjunction with the ICANN Vice-President and his team, I intend to leverage on the ICANN African Day and the ICANN Special workshops to intimate the audience on the Business Constituency of ICANN and entertain questions from the audience as to the benefits of membership and how business impacts the policy development process globally.
