After a meeting held with AFRINIC CEO, it was agreed that AFRALO will be provided with a booth and a session be organised. AfRINIC is a co-organiser of this event, that why I think is very important to be part of this summit.

IAS is the best place for promoting multistakeholder models of ICANN in Africa, discussing its role in Internet Governance both with representatives of Africa and members of the AUC, including UNECA. Such discussions contribute to a broader awareness around Internet Governance related issues, especially in the year crucial for shaping the future governance model/s for the Internet, extremely important for all key stakeholders globally and in Africa in particular.

The Africa Internet Summit (AIS) aims to bring under one roof all the Internet actors in Africa to discuss ICT issues and challenges. The Summit provides attendees and participants with a platform to share and spread Internet-related knowledge pertinent to the African region. This is also the chance for everyone attending to network with peers.

Give a presentation or be a speaker for some session, reach out to the participants and particulary the end-users to explain the role the mission and the activities of ICANN, and try to drag them to participate in all ICANN work in our continent is very important. During this meeting, I will make a presentation of AFRALO before give more visibility for ICANN. I will undertake reach out activities towards the community to recruit ALS.

For this fifth edition of AIS, they are expecting around 1000 participants to attend from all over Africa and beyond. They will  include Mobile Operators, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), Network Engineers, Internet governance experts, Governments and Regulators, Academics, and Businesses from the ICT sector among others.

11) Additional Information (optional):

  • Promotional Materials which include AFRALO Pull up Banner, printing of invitation postcards, AFRALO Fliers, Tee shirt if possible.
  • Shipping of Materials to the Hotels
  • Extra 02 nights during the Summit to have maximum impact to the communities by taking part to AFRINIC Workshops that will take place in the week prior to the AIS'17 plenaries, from 27 May to 29 May 2017
