Summary Notes and Action Items
AI - Pavan: Preparation for Toronto APRALO Meeting Agenda ahead of time as well as outreach to ALSes
AI - Pavan: ALS in Baku: Pavan to follow up with Charles and Holly and reach out this ALS
AI - Staff: Baku: follow up and update on the budget allocations.
AI: The AC room cannot be accessed from China. Incompatibility or some IT issue. IT to look into it.
Holly will Chair the call.
IDN country code : Holly outlined the process. There seems to be good support from the community but ICANN has not responded to the suggestions yet.
Hong: The variant projects is going on but they will not produce a project soon. The WG will need to speed up.
Ask Edmon: To give us a briefing on the status. To be asked at the Toronto meeting.
CLO: the timing issue is a recognized one.
Pavan to follow up on Baku and copy staff on this.
CLO and OCL on Baku budget matters and allocations.
CLO: Not a great deal has happened in budget and finance committee. That is something that will be discussed in Toronto, one of the things I suggest that we identify the AP IGF.
It may be appropriate to set up a WIKI page for possible activity - competitive because there may be a small allocation.
CLO ask staff and Pavan if you can micromanage the WIKI.
OCL: With regards to Baku I understand that there will be 3 people who will be funded and the WS was afforded to 5 people and Rinalia has brought up the issue of 3 people.
We are supposed to receive the details on specific travel dates.
To the wider budgeting process, there have been several meetings and there has been various processes being examined, and there will be a budget session in Toronto. We will be sending some people to this meeting.
Holly: At some point the 5 Ralos will have an understanding of what is available?
It would be nice to have an idea if there is any money, and how much it is.?
How can we as APRALO formulate some ideas? CLO: A call for a WIKI page. To ideas of what needs to be funded.

2. Red Cross-PDP. There are some consensus views on the list, whether the IOC has the same protection as Red cross.
I don't want to spend a lot of time on that. One issue is allowing generic words as private gTLD.
Holly asked all to check the website approved ALAC statements.
There are about 12 recommendations to act on the PDP.
Read all of the statements.
OCL: Uproar on generic names of gTLD there is a strange thing that when PDD started nobody but the ALAC identified this issue which made a person "private".
This is something that the ALAC has said in the past and now that this has made news is that this is not a comment about a single application but various applications, and this is something where the action needs to be taken by the Board and this is not a failure of the ALAC, we did bring it forward.
CLO mentioned the following re new gTLDs.
The are other policy issues, there is another WG on General rights and responsibilities, thin and thick who is.
Registrant protection agreement; it is difficult for compliance to ensure compliance.
There is an RAA meeting in Toronto.
OCL : Since we started the discussion things have changed, and what we wanted to say, the statement is on hold.
RAA major piece of news is when ICANN Board met in LA the new CEO took post 15 days ahead of schedule and announced that compliance will report to him instead of reporting to legal and this changed the frame on how compliance operates.
There is nothing worst that submitting statements out of date
Compliance will brief us on Sunday.
The industry needs much enforcement.
We were told that ICANN is not a regulator.
Survey:
Pavan has sent the survey to all ALS and the response has not been so great but will send the survey to additional ALS.
Pavan will start an email to the WIKI and website.
Sometimes it is difficult to find the WIKI from the website.
APRALO elections? Basically there may need to have elections, because I am VC and I am very happy to vacate to leave the place for someone to be VC.
CLO: Do we need to do this?
Holly mentioned she would do it only for new people to come in.
First item will be the GA in Beijing. Any and all thoughts will be welcome.

AI: CLO ASKED TO SET UP A WIKI AND CALL FOR PEOPLE TO SHOW THE PEOPLE WHO WANT TO WORK ON THIS, THERE WILL NOT BE A FREE RIDE. SHE SUGGGESTED PEOPLE FROM THE CHINA ALS INVOLVED.
