THE BRAZILIAN INSTITUTE OF POLICY AND LAW OF COMPUTING - IBDI - is a nonprofit civil association, religious or partisan, who carries out activities directed to education, scientific research, technological development, the protection and preservation of the environment, culture and health, especially for:

• implementar atividades e pesquisas que tenham por objeto o estudo científico do Direito e, em especial, do Direito da Informática; implement research and activities which have as their object the scientific study of law and, in particular, the Computer Law;
• realizar seminários, congressos, cursos, simpósios e conferencias, inclusive em conjunto com outras instituiçoes, sobre temas de Direito da Informática e Administraçao de recursos informáticos, ou outros temas jurídicos relevantes; seminars, conferences, courses, symposia and conferences, including in conjunction with other institutions, on issues of Computer Law and Administration of computing resources, or other relevant legal issues;
• estimular o advento de matérias do âmbito do universo do Direito da informática nos cursos de graduaçao e pós-graduaçao das Faculdades de Direito e de Administraçao; stimulate the emergence of issues concerning the law of the universe of computer science in undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Faculties of Law and Administration;
• promover intercâmbio cultural com entidades congeneres nacionais e estrangeiras; promote cultural exchange with foreign agencies and national counterparts;
• emitir pareceres técnicos e apresentar anteprojetos de lei em matéria de Direito da Informática; technical advice and submit draft bills relating to Computer Law;
• celebrar convenios com quaisquer instituiçoes para melhor realizaçao de suas finalidades, mormente com as universidades, faculdades e outros institutos congeneres; conclude agreements with any institutions for the better realization of its goals, especially with universities, colleges and other institutes congeners;
• manter biblioteca e setor de jurisprudencia especializada; maintain library and specialized sector of jurisprudence;
• editar revistas, boletins ou trabalhos sobre Direito da Informática; edit magazines, newsletters or papers on Computer Law;
• conceder bolsas de estudo para seus sócios; provide scholarships for its members;
• firmar contratos de gestao com o Poder Público com vistas a formaçao de parceria para fomento e execuçao de suas atividades sociais; management contracts with the government aimed at fostering partnerships for and execution of their social activities;
• desenvolver, em parceria com outros órgaos, projetos de estruturaçao e planejamento informático de órgaos da Administraçao Pública, especialmente do Poder Judiciário; develop, in partnership with other organs, project structuring and planning, computer-public authorities, especially the judiciary;
• prestar assistencia técnica e jurídica, no âmbito do D. provide technical and legal assistance within the D. da Informática, a órgaos públicos ou outras organizaçoes sociais, mediante a assinatura de convenios ou contratos de gestao.
