  Glenn McKnight:where is the agenda
  Siranush Vardanyan:i can't hear well
Gisella Gruber-White:@ Glenn - agenda on the AC now
Heidi Ullrich:My favorite Australian bird, Cheryl!
  Glenn McKnight:thanks
  Heidi Ullrich:Agenda for today's call: https://community.icann.org/display/atlarge/At-Large+Ad-Hoc+ICANN+Accessibility+Working+Group+2014.02.13
Glenn McKnight:I sent my bio back in December to Chris Modini
Siranush Vardanyan:Sorry, I am only via adobe, so will brief here: I am volunteering in the Armenian Association for the disabled> Pyunic (which means bird Phoenix) since 1997.
Siranush Vardanyan:The organization is very much involved in providing numerous activities in support of the disable, as we had many disabled after the devastating> earthquake in 1988. I was very much involved in the organization of> summer and winter camps for the disabled which Pyunic is organizing every year, as well as annual marathons with the participation of the> disabled on wheelchairs. The organization is involved also in advocacy and networking for the  rights of the disabled, internships, suppo in providing medical help to> many disabled, as well as vocational trainings, designed to provide both> training and employment opportunities to disabled individuals, including silk-screen printing and handicrafts.
Garth Bruen:One nitpick. The mailling list name is "accessability" and not "accessibility". Not sure if this a deliberate play on words or just a typo
Gunela Astbrink:Thank you very much, Joly
Siranush Vardanyan:The organization doesn't have too much experience in using ICT, besides having a small computer room and providing computer literacy training to disabled people.
Gunela Astbrink:I agree, Joly about Amara
Glenn McKnight:I think the bios  that were sent to Chris could be added to the working group page
Gunela Astbrink:Joly - you have great disability resources on the ISOC NY site
Joly MacFie:Also we have an Accessibility page on the ISOC-NY wiki http://isoc-ny.org/wiki/Accessibility_resources
  Siranush Vardanyan:thanks, Cheryl
Gisella Gruber-White:@ Garth - our mailing list has been corrected and is accessibility: Accessibility WG <accessibility-wg@atlarge-lists.icann.org>
Heidi Ullrich:Yes, it was corrected as soon as the typo was noticed
  Heidi Ullrich:Workspace: https://community.icann.org/display/atlarge/At-Large+Ad-Hoc+ICANN+Accessibility+Working+Group
  Garth Bruen:Thanks Gisella
Garth Bruen:Good idea on the Wiki Cheryl
  Siranush Vardanyan:yes
Silvia Vivanco:This WG is a pioneer! great initiative
Siranush Vardanyan:I agree with FOR ALL :)
Siranush Vardanyan:I have never seen people with greatest sense of humor than disabled people from our organization, believe me and I am sure you all can prove that
Heidi Ullrich:and we've been with you every step, Cheryl :)
Gunela Astbrink:Yes, I know what you mean , Cheryl
  Gisella Gruber-White:Welcome Joe Catapano
Gunela Astbrink:I like your references to universal design, Cheryl
Joly MacFie:What would our acronym be?
Glenn McKnight:Universal design is the common archetectural term for  compliance to ADA building code requirements.  Not used outside of this realm in  North America
  Joly MacFie:ALADIADWG?  :)
  Joly MacFie:ADWG for short?
  Garth Bruen:T.O.O.M.A.N.Y.A.C.R.O.N.Y.M.S.
  Siranush Vardanyan::))
Joly MacFie:they do help people like me who are terrible typists
Glenn McKnight:coments on Gunella's comment or our mandate
  Siranush Vardanyan:people with limited opportunities
  Siranush Vardanyan:orpossibilities
Glenn McKnight:We need to define our  scope of project  we have three groups in the  agenda.
Cheryl Langdon-Orr:yes I do not personally like the term 'special needs
Glenn McKnight:The isoc  chapter  is called  ISOC Disabled and Special Needs Chapter
Joly MacFie:Gunela, your domain pulse link needs a fix, missing a slash
  Joly MacFie:http://www.domainpulse.com/2013/12/03/why-website-accessibility-makes-business-sense-by-maggie-whitnall-ausregistry/
Cheryl Langdon-Orr:Universal design is common term in communications and telco world.
  Gunela Astbrink:I'll fix that later
Glenn McKnight:I think we need to address where we only focus on the disabled or all three groups
Glenn McKnight:we had aboriginal and refugees added on the list
Siranush Vardanyan:my assumption was that we focus only on disabled
Glenn McKnight:We just passed in our Canadian budget   broadband access to 250,000 people a very very small number in comparision to the need
Glenn McKnight:We need to narrow our scope
Glenn McKnight:Dealing with economic barriers, etc  is a slippery slope
Garth Bruen:Narrowing scope helps our task
Garth Bruen:I think "physical" is better than "diversity"
Garth Bruen:Like Joly's point, it should be "physical" accessibility
Siranush Vardanyan:like "physical" accessibility as well
Garth Bruen:"Diversity" will REALLY confuse some people
Gunela Astbrink:It is better to just have accessessibliity rather than physical so we cover all disability
Siranush Vardanyan:especially when APRALO's motto is "Celebrating diversity"
  Siranush Vardanyan:so confusing indeed
Glenn McKnight:If we want to help ICANN in giving them direction, advise and help in one special interest group.  We need to avoid the broad brush
Joly MacFie:I am with Gunela. I beleive having a wider remit, doesn't preclude focus on more narrow aspects.
Joly MacFie:As long as there is traction, we won';t slip down the slope.
Glenn McKnight:Who in this group expressed any interest in the other two groups?  None
Glenn McKnight:Everyone is here for the  Accessibillity focused on the disabled
  Garth Bruen:"Physical Accessibility"
Glenn McKnight:We have  clear best practices from other groups who dealt with our issue
Gunela Astbrink:I'm concerned about putting all disadvantaged groups in one WG. Will all groups get the same focus when we are already focusing on disability?
  Joly MacFie:Hmm
Glenn McKnight:Is this call finishing in 4 minutes?
Garth Bruen:Language and access have already had much attention at ICANN, disabilities have had none.
Glenn McKnight:Is this the next poll?
Glenn McKnight:PLEASE  state the POLL  QUESTION
  Garth Bruen:"Physical Accessibility"
  Joly MacFie:Abstain.
Gunela Astbrink:I voted against the new name because I think that other disadvantaged groups might need another WG to deal with their issues - they may be different from disability and accessibility issues
Glenn McKnight:Garth you recommended for  London special speakers
Garth Bruen:I have a number of goals I will put into the Wiki
  Garth Bruen:Monthly
Siranush Vardanyan:i am for montly aswell
  Joly MacFie:whatever
  Glenn McKnight:monthly
  Joly MacFie:I like 1900 UTC
  Garth Bruen:+1
Glenn McKnight:Plesase put in minutes  access to the emails that went back and forth with Chris
Siranush Vardanyan:yes, 19:00 UTC works well
  Glenn McKnight:fine
Gunela Astbrink:If possible, 20UTC would be great
  Joly MacFie:20 is ok
Siranush Vardanyan:20 will be very late for me
  Gunela Astbrink:Yes
Glenn McKnight:Thanks to Cheryl and Gunnela  on adapting to the time zone
Siranush Vardanyan:19:00 for 90 minutes sounds good
  Glenn McKnight:90 minutes are fine
  Gunela Astbrink:Oh well
  Siranush Vardanyan::)
Glenn McKnight:please make sure the time is fair to the far easterners
Gunela Astbrink:Thank you, Cheryl. I'm excited about the future for this WG's work
