Definition and Scope of the Thick Whois Implementation Documents

1. Transition Verification Document (Expected release: September 2014)

This document describes the verification tasks to be carried out to ensure that the transition to thick Whois output is being implemented correctly and timely. It explains the purpose and execution of these verification tasks, as well as the parties involved.

2. Post Transition Problem Resolution Document (Expected release: December 2014)

This document is meant as guide for registries and registrars in providing post transition problem resolution support to relevant stakeholders so that there is consistent problem resolution support across the board. It lists the possible issues and recommends the types of support to be made available to stakeholders to ensure a smooth and efficient implementation.

3. Guidelines to Registries and Registrars on Transition (Expected release: March 2015)

This document acts a guide for registries and registrars in the transition from thin to thick Whois. It explains the implementation tasks to be performed by registries and registrar in detail and establishes best practices in carrying out the implementation. The schedule and milestones in the Implementation Plan will be covered as well.

#Action itemStatus
1

It was requested for “the definitions and scope of the output documents in this Implementation Plan document” to be documented. Staff will follow up on this request.

Staff will add the definitions and scope of the output documents as an Appendix to the Implementation Plan and Schedule document in the next update. Meanwhile, staff will send the information via email to the IRT.

2

Staff will look at getting feedback from the contracted parties on the Implementation Plan.

The Registry Services team and Registrar Services team will provide updates to the respective Registries Stakeholder Group and Registrars Stakeholder Group. A communication plan is also being worked out to outreach to all the registries and registrars.

3

There was concern on the impact of the AWIP implementation policy on the Thick Whois implementation. Staff will clarify and get back to the IRT.

Staff has taken note of the requirements under the AWIP consensus policy and will ensure that there is no conflict and the Whois output is compliant to both consensus policies.
