Background
The Security, Stability, & Resiliency of the DNS Review (SSR1) was conducted under the Affirmation of Commitments. The Affirmation of Commitments (AoC) between ICANN and the U.S. Department of Commerce committed ICANN to "assess the extent to which ICANN has successfully implemented the security plan, the effectiveness of the plan to deal with actual and potential challenges and threats, and the extent to which the security plan is sufficiently robust to meet future challenges and threats to the security, stability and resiliency of the Internet DNS, consistent with ICANN's limited technical mission".
On 21 May 2012, the SSR1 Review Team delivered its Final Report, containing 28 recommendations, to the ICANN Board of Directors.
On 18 October 2012, the Board directed the President and CEO to proceed with implementation.
