APRALO had a conference call at 5:00-6:10 UTC on March 25. The ALSes
discussed the GNSO review and asked Cheryl and Hong to bring the
following comments to the committee.
We support the goal of making GNSO Constituency structure and
operations more transparent, accountable and accessible. But under the
present proposal, there will be only one non-commercial registrants
constituency against the other three business-related constituencies.
The Individual users' participation in GNSO policy-making would not be
substantially enhanced after such restructuring. To make the structure
more balanced and representative, we propose another constituency for
(non-domain name holder) individual users at-large be set up in GNSO.
The fifth constituency may be called as "consumers constituency",
which will enable the people who are using the Internet and DNS but do
not register any domain name to participate the policy activities of
GNSO.
