Frankfurt/Main, Germany, 28th May 2006: At the first Preparatory Meeting for a European Regional At-Large Organisation (EURALO) took place in Frankfurt with about 20 civil society representatives from Belgium, Luxembourg, Finland, Germany, Italy and Switzerland assembled, committed to start the work of forming the EURALO. Next proposed steps: procedural deadlines and assembly points are the June ICANN Meeting in Marrakesh (first draft of key issues of EURALO bylaws for discussion), the Wizard-of-OS Conference (WOS) in September in Berlin (continue work on finalizing EURALO bylaws), the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) end of October in Athens (meeting to further develop the EURALO Bylaws, and outreach work) and the 28th International ICANN meeting in spring 2007 in Lisbon (signing Memorandum of Understanding with ICANN and holding a first European workshop on how ICANN policies affect internet users’ interests).
July 2005 Luxembourg: Individuals and groups concerned with individual Internet users' rights participated in ICANN At-Large meetings and events, which were held in Luxembourg City, 10-15 July, 2005, during ICANN's week-long European meeting. Sunday, 10 July had a special focus on informing and involving the Internet's user/civil society community, and included "Building the European At-Large Network" - a special meeting of groups registered with, or interested in, ICANN At-Large in Europe
