The ALAC will consider the establishment of an ad-hoc Working Group that will discuss ICANN and Accessibility for Under-served and Disadvantaged Populations

Note in part to Olivier Crepin-Leblond from Christopher Mondini, VP, Stakeholder Engagement, North America and Global Business dated 9 January 2014:

I have had a number of exchanges with At Large leaders who have taught me a great deal about the particular needs of populations who face challenges to:

  1. participate in the policy development work of ICANN, and
  2. gain access to the Internet and join the Information Society.

These populations include:

  1. people with physical disabilities
  2. indigenous, aboriginal or 'first nation' populations, and
  3. other vulnerable populations (a diverse category, including groups such as refugees, trafficked and exploited people, crime victims, etc., etc.)

There is a lot of expertise and passion in At Large to help these groups gain access to the Internet and Internet Governance processes.

Please note, I have been conducting conversations on each topic separately.  However the recurring refrain is a wish for the formation of a Working Group to explore the topic.
