Summary Minutes of NARALO Meeting of 13 July 2009

Participants: Beau Brendler (BB), Garth Bruen (GB), Monique Chartrand (MC), Evan Leibovitch (EL), Danny P. (DP), Seth Reiss (SR), and Gareth Shearman (GS)

Roll Call was taken and apologies noted.

The Summary Minutes and Action Items of the Meeting of 08 June were reviewed.

Current Open Public Comments were noted with particular attention being made to the ALAC statement on the public consultation process, the ALAC comments on the draft implementation plan for IDN fast track v.3. There was discussion of the ALAC statement and the joint ALAC/NCUC statement on the IRT Working Group Final Report. SR pointed out that WIPO had produced a statement on then IRT Report. EL asked SR to prepare an analysis of the WIPO statement.

There was review of the ICANN Meeting held in Sydney by BB, EL and GS. Attention was given to the meeting reports that are available on the At-Large wiki. BB discussed the presentation he gave at the Forum on DNS Abuse and the statistics he had presented. GB said that he had also received significant feedback.

GB noted that his submission privileges for posting to ICANN’s Bulk WDPRS interface had been removed without any notification. EL asked HU to urgently follow up on this issue.

MC asked whether NARALO would be active at the IGF that will take place in November. GS noted that regional IGF activities will be taking place as well. EL asked MC to serve as the NARALO IGF representative and report back to NARALO during future meetings.

The ALAC Review and selection of At-Large Representative(s) to the Board was discussed.

The next ICANN meeting to be held in North America will take place 13-18 March 2001. It was noted that anyplace in the Northeast of the US or Toronto/Montréal regions of Canada would be too cold to hold a meeting at this time of the year, and that Vancouver has already hosted an ICANN meeting. SR proposed Hawaii. HU was asked to send SR information regarding the procedure to submit a proposal. SR would follow up with relevant convention-planners.

It was agreed to ask Staff to organize an Adobe Connect Training session to take place 30 minutes prior to the 14 September NARALO teleconference.
