01:34:07 Dave Kissoondoyal - ALAC: Thanks @Abdulkarim
01:37:36 Franklin Owusu-Akyeampong: Good everyone from EGIGFA
01:39:29 Mark Datysgeld: uasg.tech
01:39:58 Glenn McKnight, Virtual School of Internet Governance: The Virtual School of Internet Governance Group E starting on Sept 6th is open for registrations , free ten week course https://forms.gle/j8WQdokzKTN9tghJ8
01:40:04 Jennifer Chung: +1 Mark on needing outreach for UA, achieving UA is a collective effort from many different sectors, stakeholders and communities.
01:40:13 Glenn McKnight, Virtual School of Internet Governance: A Spanish version of VSIG will be launched in mid September
01:40:44 Glenn McKnight, Virtual School of Internet Governance: A Portuguese and French version in fourth quarter of 2021
01:41:14 Clement Genty - Fellow: Excellent news Glenn, I wasn't aware of the French one !
01:41:23 Clement Genty - Fellow: If you need any translations, do not hesitate
01:42:27 Roberto: One thing that users can do is to complain to their providers when they are not UA-compliant - and our At-Large community spreads all over the world, so we could intervene in many different realities
01:42:36 Jane Sexton (ICANN org): Thanks, Mark! If you are interested in Universal Acceptance you can check out more at https://uasg.tech/
01:42:42 Evan Leibovitch: UA is not (or no longer) a priority, and it has not advanced significantly, because the world has moved on. The RTL and non-Latin-character communities are quite able to communicate while circumventing "memorable" domain names in non-Latin-scripts. Asia is awash in QR codes and search engines such as Google and Baidu will get what you want in your own language regardless of the domain name. Why is this so hard to understand?
01:43:01 Jonathan Zuck: I still feel like we should launch a massive outreach campaign on UA. We have the numbers, let's use them!
01:43:05 Dave Kissoondoyal - ALAC: Yes we have very good panelists
01:43:24 Roberto: +1 JZ
01:43:30 Vanda Scartezini - Brazil: Thank you Mark. good presentation!
01:43:41 Daniel Nanghaka: There is awareness though we need more of UA awareness and Outreach
01:43:52 Mark Datysgeld: @Evan This does not match the data we have, but you are more than welcome to send us documents and ideas. All input is welcome.
01:44:04 Fidya Shabrina: Hey Mark, Thanks a lot for bringing up this topic. Can you please share how is the assessment on a particular languange and or/script in Universal Acceptance? Earlier on July 2020, Indonesia PANDI proposed to submit the javanese script yet it got rejected.
01:44:19 Abdeldjalil Bachar Bong,AFRALO: Nexgen and Fellowship are the great programs to enter in ICANN Ecosystem.
01:45:59 Roberto: @Evan - the question is that the lack of support for different scripts hinders the development and deployment of local content. So, yes, people can “circumvent” the obstacles, but are anyway not encouraged to develop local content
01:46:03 Mark Datysgeld: @Fydia we have a more or less standardized process based on previous evaluations. You can find the methodology here: https://uasg.tech/wp-content/uploads/documents/UASG025-en-digital.pdf
01:47:30 Mark Datysgeld: And of course you can always contact me and I can put you in touch with people who would be very interested. :)
01:47:34 Evan Leibovitch: The data is what you presented, Mark. Asian and RTL languages are just not used for domain names. And yet China has more Internet users than anywhere else.... how are they possibly surviving without Unicode domain names? What research have you done wrt how people in non-Latin-script societies access the Internet? How many type in domain names and how many bypass them through searches, QR codes, mobile apps and social media pages? ICANN is terrified to do this kind of research because it won't like the outcome.
01:49:15 Mark Datysgeld: @Evan We actually Ambassadors from the region that work very seriously and actively on monitoring the issues you mention. Maybe you would be interested in having a conversation with them?
01:49:21 Fidya Shabrina: @Mark. Noted with thank you. Will check.
01:49:23 Emmanuel: I am Emmanuel from Accra, Ghana a GhanaSIG Fellow and this is my first ICANN meeting. great discussion ongoing
01:49:30 Maureen Hilyard: Valuable contributions are being made here
01:50:16 Raymond Mamattah (ICANN70 Fellow): The AFRINIC's Nomination Committee (NomCom2021) is pleased to announce that the nomination process for the Board is opened for the the Sourthern Africa seat. Kindly get a qualified person to apply in order to service the community. https://afrinic.net/20210313-call-for-nominations-afrinic-board-of-directors
01:50:24 alberto soto: Question: Public interest: there are ICANN groups where the definition of public interest is still being discussed. Could you give a definition?
01:50:48 Mark Datysgeld: If you would like to know the UASG Ambassadors and see who can best attend to the needs of your region, please find them here: https://uasg.tech/about/people/
01:51:20 Fidya Shabrina: @Mark also well noted for the generous follow up request :)
01:54:26 Laurin Benedikt Weissinger: Apologies to all, I did not save as much time as intended.
01:54:59 Joanna Kulesza: No worries @Laurin, great intervention, thank you!
01:57:20 Clement Genty - Fellow: Hi all, unfortunately I have a Zoom call with my boss and I'm already late. Have a nice call !
01:57:36 Laurin Benedikt Weissinger: Thanks Clement!
02:00:52 Gisella Gruber - ICANN Org: REMINDER to all speaker to kindly speak at a reasonable speed to allow for accurate interpretation
02:01:41 alberto soto: At-Large also deals with human rights on the internet
02:03:13 Lianna Galstyan: Thanks Olga much
02:03:57 Jonathan Zuck: That admonition was delivered a little quickly...just saying.
02:04:20 Natalia Filina: thanks Mark, Olga!
02:05:23 Raymond Mamattah (ICANN70 Fellow): Bruna, did you say you were At-Large Fellowship Mentor?
02:10:58 Abdeldjalil Bachar Bong,AFRALO: @Raymond check here for more info about fellowship selection committee membership https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/fellowship-selection-committee
02:11:32 Abulkarim Oloyede: Thanks Matthias for this session it good seeing people open up on these topics
02:11:38 Bruna Martins dos Santos: Heya Raymond, I guess I mentioned I once were a fellowship mentor :)
02:12:11 Maureen Hilyard: Excellent presentations from all speakers covering a wide range of interesting perspectives of the expectations of the work required by ICANN
02:15:45 Laurin Benedikt Weissinger: Thank you, Maureen!
02:15:56 Bruna Martins dos Santos: Thanks, Maureen. Happy to be here.
02:16:34 Sarah Kiden: Thank you everyone and thank you to all the panelists! Also, my apologies for speaking so fast
02:16:56 Priyatosh Jana: very good discussion ...
02:17:21 Siranush Vardanyan - ICANN Org: Kudos to Matthias who put together this session. Excellent presenters, experience sharing, role models for newcomers and great discussions in place. This session made my day. Applauses to all Fellows and NextGen@ICANN Program participants who joined as panelists and participants.
02:18:18 Raymond Mamattah (ICANN70 Fellow): ICANN70 Fellows are here in our numbers
02:19:02 Priyatosh Jana: yes Raymond
02:19:09 Jonathan Zuck: Indeed. The optics of waiting until they don't pay is no good.
02:20:31 Laurin Benedikt Weissinger: Agreed, and it isn’t just the optics. Crimes and abuse were happening all this time deaccreditation did not happen.
02:20:38 Keolebogile Rantsetse (ICANN 70 Fellow): A great session indeed. Thanks all panelists for sharing your experiences,
02:20:49 Jonathan Zuck: Ture, of course
02:21:03 Evan Leibovitch: Excellent speakers and good, relevant topics. Of question is whether ICANN. as currently constructed, is able and competent to actually address them.
02:22:14 Jonathan Zuck: We really need to push out educational outreach to individual users as well. Most passwords are stolen via social engineering, not hacking.
02:22:47 Loris Taylor: Great panelists all around.
02:22:53 Evan Leibovitch: +1 Jonathan
02:23:13 Jonathan Zuck: Yes, Sarah!
02:23:27 Laurin Benedikt Weissinger: Well, I would argue more than social engineering, it is actually password reuse.
02:23:29 Roberto: Absolutely, Mark - it is not a technical question - at least not “just” technical. Much of it is non-technical, but user experience
02:24:02 Laurin Benedikt Weissinger: One site gets breached, and then the same usr/pw is being tried elsewhere.
02:24:28 Bruna Martins dos Santos: Just replying to @Mark, Id say we are pretty open to collaborating with contracted parties and have been doing so, up until today. But I agree theres always room for more things to be done.
02:24:41 Jonathan Zuck: Yes, Laurin. Of course, part of the education campaign would be to encourage folks to frequently change pw's and use different ones on different sites.
02:25:29 Jennifer Chung: @Yik Chan Chin - there is a pretty good effort in China for UA, both in terms of Ambassadors and ICANN AP HUB
02:25:59 Joanna Kulesza (OnceAFellowAlwaysAFellow): This sounds like a cross-community DNS Abuse CB program/campaign would be useful.
02:26:06 Laurin Benedikt Weissinger: There are dangers in changing passwords too. I fear the only way to fix this will be proper (non-SMS) 2FA…
02:26:44 Jonathan Zuck: Perhaps Laurin. We should definitely tell folks to take advantage of 2FA, when available.
02:26:55 Mark Datysgeld: Interpretation link on the bar below
02:27:25 Jonathan Zuck: Interpretation is working great!
02:27:32 Dave Kissoondoyal - ALAC: You are still young @Sebastien
