Kimberly Carlson:Welcome to today's Council call on 15 February at 12:00 UTC
Joke Braeken:hello everyone
Stephen Deerhake:Thanks.
Alejandra Reynoso [.gt]:Good morning :)
Kimberly Carlson:agenda is scrollable
Peter Vergote:Goof afternoon everybody
Barrack Otieno AFTLD:Goodafternoon
Stephen Deerhake:Does this count of slots include the Nomcom council appointees?
Bart Boswinkel:@ Stephen: yes it does
Bart Boswinkel:No change there in comparison with last year and years before
Stephen Deerhake:Thanks Bart. I thought TechDay (at least Eberhard) was funded out of a different ICANN budget slot... Is that changing?
Bart Boswinkel:The expectation it is
Bart Boswinkel:wil change
Bart Boswinkel:NomCOm is funded by ccNSO tarvel funding
Joke Braeken:Three (3) of ccNSO full travel funding slots will be available for the NomCom appointed ccNSO Councillors. If a NomCom Councillor declines allocated funding, those funds will be allocated to the “Broader ccTLD community” category. At least one (1) Councillor from every region will receive travel funding for an ICANN meeting. The Councillors representing the Region are to decide among themselves who will receive funding to attend a meeting. If no decision is made, or if none of the Councillors from a region applies to the allocated funding, the funds for that region will be allocated to the “Broader ccTLD community” category.
Debbie Monahan:I agree with what Byron has just said, it is something we need to be aware of
Stephen Deerhake:I have to agree with Byron that our lack of fulfilling our commitment to the Budget makes us look very bad and indeed must take the wind out of any argument that we put forth regarding travel funding.
Debbie Monahan:I don't think Japan has asked either
Alejandra Reynoso [.gt]:Debbie, I think the point is not that councilours are not getting travel funding when asked for it, but that there is no guarantee they will get more than 1 travel funding a year.
Alejandra Reynoso [.gt]:Councillors*
Debbie Monahan:yes agree, Alejandra and we need to make sure that if it is required it is available. Understanding the position of current councillors and whether they will or won't be seeking assistance may help us in planning how short of places we might be
Alejandra Reynoso [.gt]:Katrina, the last email related with SSR2 we got was "SOAC Chairs Statement on status of SSR2 Review 2018-02-12"
Stephen Deerhake:Barcalona is too late. We should plan for Panama and beat the drum for voter turnout, even though the voting period is in July.
Katrina Sataki:Why is Barcelona too late?
Katrina Sataki:Two elections so close to each other might confuse people, don't you agree?
Stephen Deerhake:I don't think people would be confused.
Joke Braeken:the timeline was included in this email : From: Ccnso-council <ccnso-council-bounces@icann.org> on behalf of Bart Boswinkel <bart.boswinkel@icann.org>Date: Thursday, 8 February 2018 at 16:00To: "ccnso-council@icann.org" <ccnso-council@icann.org>Subject: [ccnso-council] Draft agenda and background material Council meeting 15 February 2018, noon UTC.
Barrack Otieno AFTLD:Yes we can
Alejandra Reynoso [.gt]:Thank you for the summary you sent by email Stephen. It was very helpful.
Debbie Monahan:yes agree, thanks Stephen
Stephen Deerhake:Thank you both. Glad you found it useful. I plan to do that going forward (ECA needs it too).
Stephen Deerhake:Is there some sort of "please think about these items" document in preparation that will be circulated to Council prior to the workshop in order that we be better prepared for the discussions to take place at the workshop?
Katrina Sataki:"Is there" - no, "will there be" - yes
Katrina Sataki:plus, please see the mindmap (attached to the mail with prep materials) - it provides an excellent overview of all the things we need to do
Stephen Deerhake:The mindmap is impressive...
Stephen Deerhake:Will this document be made available Alejandra? Love the color coding...
Alejandra Reynoso [.gt]:I forgot to mention that the Google Calendar is updated too!

Alejandra Reynoso [.gt]:Yes Stephen, already in your inbox :)
Byron Holland:Mindmap highlights the magnitude of activities facing us. We will really need to prioritize the must do, should do, nice to do
Barrack Otieno AFTLD:No update from me
Kimberly Carlson:I will be sending the "save the date" email for the cocktail later today
Barrack Otieno AFTLD:Noted Kim
Joke Braeken:sorry, old hand
Byron Holland:Agree with Stephen
Stephen Deerhake:Agree that election report is an excellent starting point. Perhaps this could be something for the GRC, although I submit we have a lot on our plate already...
