19Eliminate barriers to participation and engagement with ICANN processes and practices.?TG3
  • Capacity Building
  • Outreach & Engagement
  • ALS Criteria & Expectations

 IN PROGRESS

Notes:

  • Existing capacity building programs: webinars, RALO-specific webinars
  • O&E SC has been looking into such activities and efforts for engagement; Ideas for Engagement Strategies wiki page has been set up to review this issue and will discuss this in ICANN 54
  • Capacity building should be more than online webinars. We should access RALOs and human capital for doing policy work and outreach. We should have some tools to engage membership and help them get involved. Staff should help do more information sessions to get info about absent ALSes and find out their interests in a gradual and systematic approach.
  • Judith and Glenn will reach out ALSes (email and phone call) and conduct easy flowing sessions via AC and allow them to ask any questions. They have identified a large group of people who haven't attended any NARALO calls and will conduct sessions to find out why.
  • ALSes are overloaded with emails and don't understand how to navigate the information and ways to get involved. The aim of capacity building, in part, should be how to get ALSes engaged. Capacity building can help enhance the ALSes' understanding how to navigate emails, not to overwhelmed by the information, etc.
  • ALS criteria and expectations group also work on this issue
