The Policy Transition Program will be the next step for ICANN Fellows, NextGen@ICANN alumni, and referred newcomers interested in active policy participation at ICANN. Participants will engage in specific policy knowledge-building, cultivating a deeper understanding of current and forthcoming policy matters, while building community relationships and value in volunteerism.

The Policy Transition Program expression of interest is now open here. The submission deadline is 23:59 UTC on 31 August 2023.

About

The ICANN Policy Transition Program creates opportunities for newer ICANN community members to cultivate substantive knowledge on a specific policy topic, while fostering relationships and value in service through connections with experienced ICANN community members.

The Policy Transition Program will meet monthly via Zoom, from September 2023 to March 2024, and will explore gTLD Registration Data: The Temporary Specification and Beyond.

Participants will receive sequential modules that will include background summaries, webinar and session recordings, and other relevant resources that offer differing points of view. Participants are expected to study these materials and participate in both interactive discussion sessions with subject matter experts and on a dedicated mailing list. Participants will also engage in a small group role play project. ICANN org Policy staff will facilitate these interactions.

The program is intended to support participants’ understanding of the gTLD registration data policy topic and their ability to contribute to current and future policy development in this area.
