Trip Assessment Form

1) Describe the Trip in sufficient detail
that an interested reader could understand if/how
the original purpose(s) and outcome(s) were
realized (please be as expansive as possible):

Report on the trip to RIPE86

(written by Natalia Filina as a joint report from Sebastien Bachollet and Natalia Filina).

CROP provided an opportunity to attend a RIPE86 (22-26 May 2023). This opportunity is very appreciated and estimated as very productive Outreach and engagement trip, the expansion of EURALO presence and connection with tech Internet community in European region.

The purpose of the trip was Outreach and Engagement work within technical community members, new European organizations and individual members into the EURALO, At-Large, discussion of current plans for interaction EURALO - RIPE NCC within the framework of the memorandum of understanding and extension of cooperation - participation in activities. capacity building work, collaborative events. Desired Outcomes: growing number of EURALO ALSs and members, involving into PDP work new technical experts, spreading the information about ICANN At-Large mission and opportunities to raising up the voice of end users, popularization of Euralo, At-Large, ICANN and presentation of the opportunities to be involved in ICANN Policy DP and broader Internet Governance discussions, for collaboration with the RIPE NCC and the RIPE community. As well as identify the barriers and the ways to broke them.

2) Describe the details of your attendance
and
activities at the meeting (including sessions
attended, written or oral contributions made to
specific sessions, etc.):

It is impossible to tell about the days of the meeting better than described in the blog https://ripe86.ripe.net/programme/blog /. Due the fact the sessions were parallel, we visited part of them, the rest is available through the links in the recording^ great to refresh the memories, to understand more, to repeat, to jump into the date, numbers, reports etc.

On Wednesday, May 24, we had the opportunity to speak in the morning at the Coordination session with a very short presentation – 5 minutes or less. We can't rate the speech perfectly (hard to explain things which are not easy for quick understanding), but many participants listened to it and then came up for explanations, asked questions, received links to resources and details (people from Netherland, Lithuania, Moldova, Germany, Austria, Georgia). Part of the community does not know that ICANN is the technical Internet Governance, that there is a common range of issues and topics in discussions with the RIPE community, but now it knows exactly more about the path of joining Euralo, At-Large, and the possibilities of interaction with other parts of the ICANN community and it`s structure. And also about a special friendly atmosphere for beginners, about a fellowship and a NextGen programs, about the great opportunity for attendees of ICANN meetings to start or enhance the partnership.

I would like to note that it was very useful to see how the program of the event was built and to take the best of the ideas for our evolution.

3) Explain the specific plans for follow-up activities
to enhance and continue the objectives of the trip for
the community structure through which you were
approved for the trip:

The existing certain distance between the communities (despite the constant contact of representatives of the RIPE NCC and mutual participation in activities) should be overcome by work, mutual participation in working group on cooperation. This work can and should be carried out on an ongoing basis (exchange, workshops, discussions, sharing the news, inviting to participate in mutual events, work with Newcomers and youth etc.).

Publications about our participation in RIPE86 were made in LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter. During the meeting, I gave a very short interview, the question of what is good about this RIPE86 with a focus on the organization that I represent. EURALO Chair, Sebastien Bachollet took the time near microphone (several times) to ask questions and add comments during the sessions (titles of these sessions  - coordination, diversity).

Trips to the RIPE meetings will be included as recommended for the O&E plan (24FY), but with the need to prepare in advance and be included in the official forum program (light talks part, speeches in coordination sessions and others, if there are intersections on topics).

A separate note from Natalia Filina:

I thank my colleagues who helped and supported me a lot during the RIPE86 (to navigate me, to solve some issues, helped to understand some things or start to communicate with the leaders of RIPE community): Sebastien Bachollet, Ozan Sahin, Christian Kauffman, Herve Clement, Bastiaan Goslings, Desiree Miloshevic, Johan Helsingius, and others. We know exactly how to work as a team (that is a very good showcase of our community)!

Look forward to continue this stream and productive interaction!
