The timeline and process of involving community input is not fully defined yet because some of it will depend on the selected vendor's proposal. Many of our users are not sophisticated in understanding web interfaces, so we could experience difficulty getting meaningful input on IA before there is a design skin on top of it. We currently expect that after the
selected vendor and ICANN Staff agree on a probable IA, we would ask a limited, qualified set of community members for guidance, as a basic sanity check. We will definitely go to the community before making a final decision on the Aesthetic design. Those are the only two checkpoints where we know we must include our audience. Towards the end of the project, when we are weeks from taking it live, we will mount a small education and awareness campaign to the community so that they'll understand and feel positive about the change before the switch-over. During that phase our emphasis is more on demo’ing what is coming, rather than collecting input that would result in dramatic changes to the design. However, we'd love for the selected vendor to join ICANN staff in presenting to the community. Depending upon when this part of the project occurs, it might involve travel or it might simply be presented remotely, 'webinar'-style.
