BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

The Country Code Names Supporting Organization (ccNSO) is responsible for developing global policies for country-code Top-Level Domains (ccTLD), promoting consensus within the ccNSO community and coordinating with other Supporting Organizations, committees and constituencies.  For more information on the ccNSO, click here.

ccNSO Organizational Review

The goal of the review, to be undertaken pursuant to such criteria and standards as the Board shall direct, shall be to determine (i) whether that organization, council or committee has a continuing purpose in the ICANN structure, (ii) if so, whether any change in structure or operations is desirable to improve its effectiveness and (iii) whether that organization, council or committee is accountable to its constituencies, stakeholder groups, organizations and other stakeholders.

These periodic reviews shall be conducted no less frequently than every five years, based on feasibility as determined by the Board. Each five-year cycle will be computed from the moment of the reception by the Board of the final report of the relevant review Working Group.

Public Session at ICANN64, Kobe: cNSO Review - Community Consultation on the Assessment Phase

When: 17:00 - 18:00 local time, Tue, Mar 12, 2019(remote participation available)

In this interactive session, Meridian Institute, the independent examiner conducting the second ccNSO Review, will provide an overview of findings in its assessment report from the initial data collection and analysis phase of the review. Following the overview, attendees will be invited to share feedback on the findings by participating in a consultation exercise and collective discussion.

Meridian Institute to Conduct the Second ccNSO Review

31 August 2018 - ICANN has appointed Meridian Institute to conduct the second independent review of the Country Code Names Supporting Organization (ccNSO). Meridian Institute will begin work on the review immediately, and is expected to submit its final report in July 2019. See the announcement here.

Initiating the Second Review of the Country Code Names Supporting Organization (ccNSO)

15 March 2018 - The Board encourages the ccNSO to prepare for an independent examiner to begin work on the second ccNSO Review in August 2018 by organizing a Review Working Party to serve as a liaison during the preparatory phase and throughout the review, and to conduct a self-assessment prior to August 2018.
