What is new to the process

As a result of your feedback, in addition to telephonic contacts that can be arranged at any time, Finance staff will also provide in-person consultation opportunities to participating SOs and ACs at the ICANN Public Meeting in Marrakech. During Stakeholder and Constituents’ Day at ICANN55, communities who have submitted requests can call on staff to come to their meetings and discuss their proposals in detail. If you would like to participate in this new step, please notify staff at controller@icann.org by the request submission deadline, 15 February 2016.

  • The Principles that govern ICANN’s request assessment work have been updated to reflect feedback from community and staff (see attached).
  • As a part of continued efforts to improve this process, ICANN has worked to identify previous budget resources (pilot projects, etc.) that can be transferred to the recurring/core ICANN budget. This year the Community Regional Outreach Pilot Project (CROPP) and some IT related projects associated with video streaming technology have achieved that status. As a result, requests for funding for these activities do not require a request form to be submitted for FY17. As practice, if you have questions about any potential requests that your community is developing you should err on the side of making all requests or contact us controller@icann.org with any questions you may have. Details on how these types of activities will be implemented are forthcoming.
