LAC digital es un encuentro de diálogo e intercambio de ideas entre Sociedad Civil, Gobiernos y Academia.

El objetivo principal es discutir y compartir temas relacionados con “Internet como servicio público esencial y de interés público global”, “Aceptación universal en la región de LAC” y “Acceso a la infraestructura de internet en áreas desatendidas o remotas”, en el marco de los derechos humanos. , diversidad y acceso equitativo.

AGENDA EN 

LAC digital is a meeting for dialogue and exchange of ideas between Civil society, Governments, and Academia.

The main objective is discussing and sharing issues related to “Internet as essential public service and the Global public interest”, “Universal Acceptance in the LAC region” and  “access to internet infrastructure in underserved or remote areas”, within the frameworks of human rights, diversity, and equitable access.

Panel 3 - Infraestructura del Internet en áreas rurales y áreas desatendidas 

Resumen de la sesión

El desarrollo impulsado por las personas sólo puede alcanzar su máximo potencial si tanto las poblaciones urbanas como las rurales están involucradas e interesadas en sus comunidades y si la información y el conocimiento se comparten. Las tecnologías e instrumentos de comunicación pueden ayudar a superar las barreras del analfabetismo, el idioma, las diferencias culturales e incluso los efectos del aislamiento físico.

Internet es esencialmente un instrumento que mejora las relaciones humanas. Los proyectos deben ser impulsados no solo por intereses técnicos sino también por necesidades humanas de comunicación y relaciones sociales.

Los panelistas debatirán formas de promover el acceso a la infraestructura de Internet y la mejora del servicio de Internet para las poblaciones desatendidas.

Panel 3 -  Internet Infrastructure in Rural Areas and Underserved Areas

Overview of the session

People-driven development can only reach its full potential if both urban and rural populations are involved and interested in their communities and if information and knowledge are shared. Communication technologies and instruments can help overcome the barriers of illiteracy, language, cultural differences, and even effects of physical isolation. 

The Internet is essentially an instrument that improves human relations. Projects must be driven not only by technical interests but also by human needs of communication and social relations. 

Panelists will debate ways to promote access to internet infrastructure and the improvement of Internet service for underserved populations.
