APIGA 2020 Cancelled Due to COVID-19

16 June 2020

SINGAPORE – 16 June 2020 – The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and the Korea Internet and Security Agency (KISA) today announced that the fifth edition of the Asia Pacific Internet Governance Academy (APIGA) will not be held in 2020.

The joint decision to cancel this year's APIGA was made due to the ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic. The primary concern for ICANN and KISA is the health and safety of the Asia Pacific (APAC) community and that of their staff.

ICANN and KISA will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely, and hope to resume APIGA next year.

APIGA is an annual five-day capacity-development program for APAC youth leaders interested in Internet governance issues and its related activities. It is co-hosted by ICANN and KISA, with support from regional partners such as the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC), DotAsia, and the Internet Society (ISOC) Asia Pacific Bureau.
