The ICANN Policy Development Accelerator program provides The ICANN Policy Transition Program creates opportunities for newer ICANN community members to cultivate build substantive knowledge on a specific policy topic, while fostering relationships and value in service and relationships through connections with experienced ICANN community members.

The Policy Transition Program expression of interest is now open here. The submission deadline is 23:59 UTC on 31 August 2023.

About

The Policy Transition Program will meet monthly via Zoom, from September 2023 to March 2024, and will explore gTLD Registration Data: The Temporary Specification and Beyond.

 

The Accelerator program is offered annually, with each class divided into two distinct terms.

The first term of each annual class is focused on a specific policy topic where participants engage with the content through self-paced learning modules, interactive group discussions with subject-matter experts, and role play exercises. The second term is a series of live workshops built from ICANN Learn courses that practice and cultivate the skills necessary for active participation in policy and advice development. 

Expressions of interest for the next class of the Accelerator will open in August 2024, so stay tuned for an announcement soon.

Details

Participants meet monthly through Zoom. Participants receive sequential modules that Participants will receive sequential modules that will include background summaries, webinar and session recordings, and other relevant resources that offer differing points of view. Participants are expected to study these materials and participate in both interactive discussion sessions with subject matter experts and on a dedicated mailing list. Participants will also engage in a small group role play project. ICANN org organization Policy Development Support staff will facilitate these interactions.

 

The program is intended to support participants’ understanding of the gTLD registration data policy topic and their ability to contribute to current and future policy development in this area.

 

Eligibility

Candidates from all regions and sectors are welcome to apply to the Policy Transition Program. Before completing the expression of interest, participants must ensure the leadership of their ICANN community group supports their participation in this program.

 

Requirements

Policy Transition Program participants Participants are expected to:

  • Dedicate approximately five hours per month to the programmonth 
  • Actively participate in asynchronous work, both in individual and small group settings, between virtual meetings
  • Participate in monthly meetings with a start time between 11:00 – 13:00 UTCvirtual meetings through Zoom
  • Complete surveys Complete the post-meeting survey
