Announcement

The nominations period is 10-20 August 2012 and voting takes place 4-18 September 2012.  

  • Below is the time-table and further info on the 2012 NCSG annual election.  
  • Nominations of candidates, their acceptance and the required candidacy statement should all be made to the NCSG email list by the dates below to be effective. 
  • This webpage will keep track of candidate nominations and Candidate Public Statements are posted here.
  • Active Members List (eligible to vote in 2012 election) as of 27 August 2012.
  • Inactive Members List (ineligible to vote in 2012 election) as of 27 August 2012.  A member will be moved from inactive status to the Active List if that member "checks-in" before 27 August 2012 by contacting the NCSG Chair Robin Gross (robin@ipjustice.org).
The following 4 NCSG positions are up for election this fall:
1.  GNSO Council Representative (currently held by William Drake, who is ineligible for another term due to term-limits)
     2-year term
2.  GNSO Council Representative (currently held by Mary Wong, who is ineligible for another term due to term-limits)
     2-year term
3.  GNSO Council Representative (currently held by Rafik Damak, who is ineligible for another term due to term-limits)
     2-year term
4.  NCSG Chair (currently held by Robin Gross, who is eligible for 1 more term)
     1-year term
NCSG Election Schedule:
  • Aug. 10: Open Nominations for Candidates

  • Aug. 20: Close Nominations for Candidates (must be made & accepted)

  • Aug. 26: Nominees make Public Statement on NCSG email list (see details below) 

  • Sept. 4: Begin Voting

  • Sept. 18: Close Voting

  • Sept. 20: Announce Election Results

Nomination Process:

Any member of the NCSG may nominate any NCSG active member either for the position of an NCSG GNSO Council Representative or for NCSG Chair.
Once nominated, the nominee is responsible for public acceptance of the nomination and for making a public statement that includes:

  • Name, declared region of residence, gender and employment;
  • Any conflicts of interest;
  • Reasons for willingness to take on the tasks of the particular position;
  • Qualifications for the position; and
  • Statement of availability for the time the position requires.
  • The nominee’s statement may also include any other information that the candidate believes is relevant. 

**  Also note that under the rules, no more than two (2) NCSG GNSO Council Representatives can be declared resident of the same geographic region as defined by ICANN.  The 3 continuing GNSO Councilors are from the following regions: Asia-Pacific, North America, Europe.

**  These terms commence on 20 October 2012 (at the conclusion of the 2012 Annual ICANN Meeting) and end at the 2013 or 2014 Annual Meeting's conclusion in the case of the 3 GNSO Council seats.
