    Joint session: ccNSO & GAC
    Tuesday, 8 March 2022 |  13:00-14:00 UTC

Image Added Participate and Session Recordings

About this session: The Governmental Advisory Committee (GAC) constitutes the voice of Governments and Intergovernmental Organizations (IGOs) in ICANN's multi-stakeholder structure.  During this joint meeting, the following topics are expected to be discussed:

    • ccNSO Policy Development: status and next steps with respect to ccPDP3-RM and ccPDP4-IDN.
      • The goal of the ccPDP3-RM working group is to report on and recommend a policy for a review mechanism with respect to decisions pertaining to the delegation, transfer, revocation and retirement of the delegated Top Level Domains associated with the country codes assigned to countries and territories listed in the ISO 3166-1 and within the framework of the ccNSO Policy Development Process.
      • The ccPDP4 Working Group defines the criteria, process, and procedures for (de)selecting Internationalised Domain Name country code Top Level Domain strings (IDN ccTLDS) associated with the country codes assigned to countries, territories or other areas of geopolitical interest listed in the ISO 3166-1 standard and within the framework of the ccNSO Policy Development Process.  The results of this ccPDP4 will eventually replace the IDN ccTLD Fast Track Process. Read more here.
    • ccNSO & DNS Abuse: current status, and an invite to learn more about the next steps during the ccNSO & DNS Abuse session later the same day.

    About this session:

A ccNSO ad hoc committee under auspices of the ccNSO Council seeks your feedback on the proposed Roadmap for the ccNSO and DNS Abuse.  This session builds on previous work during ICANN72 and a subsequent workshop, when ccTLDs and the broader community suggested areas the ccNSO should get involved in with respect to DNS Abuse.  The ad hoc committee started working on a proposed roadmap, in line with the ccNSO role, aiming to create useful resources that ccTLD managers can make use of as they wish, on a voluntary basis.  During ICANN73, the ad hoc Committee will present the roadmap, consult the ccTLDs present, and discuss next steps.  Depending on community feedback, the ccNSO Council will discuss the adoption of the roadmap during their meeting on Thursday, 10 March 2022.  Implementation would kick off after ICANN73, with the launch of a call for volunteers, to create the ccNSO DNS Abuse Standing Committee (DASC).  Ahead of the session, the proposed Roadmap as well as the Draft Charter by the DASC were shared on the ccNSO and ccTLD mailing lists.

We will use a new method of live polling, to engage the broader ccTLD community.  To ensure unique input by ccTLDs only, the ccNSO Secretariat will share a Mentimeter-link on the ccNSO members mailing list and ccTLD community mailing list, closer to the session.  Questions? Contact the ccNSO Secretariat.

    About this Session:

During this session, the ccNSO Guideline Review  Committee  (GRC) will alert the ccNSO membership to the voting on the proposed new ccNSO internal Rules, which - once adopted by the ccNSO members - will replace the ccNSO 2004 internal Rules. Voting is expected to begin after ICANN73. The new Rules will have a direct impact on the governance structure of the ccNSO, specifically on the respective roles of the ccNSO Council and ccNSO membership.  A heads up about the upcoming vote, information about the process that led to the new proposed rules, some frequently asked questions and answers, next steps and a copy of the new proposed rules was shared previously on the ccNSO and ccTLD mailing lists, and posted on the ccNSO website.  Read more here

Secondly, the GRC will  launch the discussion on Conflict  of Interest  (COI) procedures for the ccNSO. The aim of the consultation is to be informed about established ways, suggestions and practices to avoid, and to seek input from the broader ccTLD community.  After evaluation of the session, future further consultations are expected.

    Note:

We will use a new method of live polling, to engage the broader ccTLD community.  To ensure unique input by ccTLDs only, the ccNSO Secretariat will share a Mentimeter-link on the ccNSO members mailing list and ccTLD community mailing list, closer to the session.  Questions?
