3. Open Policy issues.

Fatimata, gave an update on the  public comments still periods still open
Tijani has 3 comments outlining the deadlines to submit comments.. We have 21 days to submit comments and 21 to reply comments.
ALAC has already made comments to various statements.

4.  REPORTS: (AZIZ)
San Jose Report: ICANN 43th meeting in CR. LACRALO organized a Showcase and a number of events and capacity building sessions. On Sunday the meeting is traditionally longer. Tijani reviewed all the relevant meetings that took place.

AFRICANN and AFRALO statement has been already translated.
ICANN Academy, ALAC meetings, etc.

B. Recent and Upcoming activities of ALAC

Yaovi;  ALAC has addressed a statement about several items. He mentioned a statement according to which ALAC has been working.
Tijani;  ICANN Academy, we are trying to engage the ICANN wide.
 ICANN's work and the working groups work anf the report drafted, such as that of JJ.
Regarding WHOIs, we will have a working group.
IDN and variant issues project VIP, we have colleagues working in that specific group, we have added Chinese and other languages. It is ICANN's work.
At Large improvements; final report
ROP and metrics also have been formed.

Janvier:
Titi asked if there are going to be AFRALO members in Geneva.
Yes, 3 persons will be in Geneva.

5.- Item for Information

1.- AFRALO Workshop for IGF in Baku; Two issues : financial problem and the second the need to organize a Workshop during the ITF.
AFRALO has presented a request for financing the workshop but they are not sure if they will be accepted. Since Baku is in the Asia region, then it Asia will have the preference. Regarding the subject of the WS, the last year theme is okay, we can have the WS on the same subject.
On the Baku Workshop what outcome we will achieve?
Each person can propose a Workshop to the IGF, but there is a funding problem.
Regarding the subject TLD, some people think that the subject is too global.

b. Call for membership of the Metrics sub-committee

We need 2 AFRALO member and 1 AlAC member. Are there any applicants?
Call for membership was sent on the list.

c. New Fund for Internet Research and Education “FIRE” (Tiajni) 3

New fund will be implemented and this fund is organized with AFRINIC and will be implemented with the IAA of the Asia Pacific region and the IAA of the Latin American and Caribbean region. This is an item for information.

d. Nominations for the 2012 NomCom

For the NomCom deadline was postponed.
There is a position for the Board  and ALAC., person interested can apply.

Conflicts of Interest
When there is a conflict person should be chosen.  
Etienne;
OCL wanted to add that now we have only 21 days to reply to comments and the first comment period open April 2nd.
Everyone is working towards the same aim.
We have the right to write a longer statement.
Difficulty for all At-large members have been dealt with because the period is still open.
Members of AFRALO still can receive comments regarding the statement.
When we mention conflicts of interest, this is a very difficult issue we are dealing with. If everyone can look at the statement and give the opinion that would be welcome.
