    In 2005, I found myself during a meeting of telecoms ministers of the Arab League where one minster said “it should not be ICANN it should be WECANN”.  This brought great laughter and applause among the hall.   But.     I do - he harassed me with my new employer, the IAEA, but it ended up just in raising awareness of what was on on the internet, and actually helped in some way….

    Just one person missing from the line-up of the early days - Marilyn Cade - and whilst many saw the "picture in the ITU paper showing the ITU Tower with the arrow pointing to the future home of the Internet Root" and just raised an eyebrow... she is the person who shared the anecdote that when she had a meeting with US government officials and showed them the picture, this was a real trigger to get them to act. How a picture changes the course of history. RIP Marilyn Cade.
