13:57:56 From Joanna Kulesza : Hi everyone!
14:02:45 From Jonathan Zuck : Yikes, latest update kills phone access. Luckily we don’t use Zoom’s phone system.
14:03:01 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : I a, pnly here 1 time ;-)
14:03:31 From Alfredo Calderon : @Cheryl, you seem to have a twin sister present.
14:08:42 From Jonathan Zuck : 15 responses isn’t a huge sample unfortunately. I wonder if we should poll for this info ON the call.
14:09:33 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : we usually do @JZ
14:10:01 From Jonathan Zuck : The “where you heard” question might want to be up front. Dunno.
14:10:57 From Jonathan Zuck : People probably leave the call by the end
14:11:01 From Gisella Gruber : We usually do this ON the call but due to a technical issue, we were not able to
14:11:08 From Jonathan Zuck : ah
14:11:13 From Gisella Gruber : So YES, we do this ON the call and have a much better turn out
14:12:07 From Jonathan Zuck : We don’t have limit our promotion to the ICANN community, do we? Just curious.
14:12:41 From Jonathan Zuck : Right
14:13:18 From Joanna Kulesza : We usually do get quite a few non-At-Large participants tbh @JZ.
14:15:59 From Jonathan Zuck : Do we send the information out as an “invite?” That will place it as a tentative block on everyone’s schedule so they don’t need to remember it or put the details in their own calendar, both of which are barriers to participation.
14:17:51 From Gisella Gruber : We send the iCal out with the invitation for people to download and forward this to the other SO AC
14:19:35 From Jonathan Zuck : Thanks @Gisella. I honestly don’t know the the difference for sure but I BELIEVE if you send it as a Meeting Invitation, from within a calendar item, it will automatically get placed tentatively in the calendar of the recipient. It doesn’t require people to even open the email, much less open the ICS
14:20:34 From Jonathan Zuck : Very technical topic, no?
14:20:45 From Alfredo Calderon : In the U.S. it was a Holiday.
14:20:47 From Gisella Gruber : For the US, it was labour Day in the US
14:20:53 From Jonathan Zuck : True, G
14:21:39 From Jonathan Zuck : Might be an anomaly
14:23:20 From Maureen Hilyard : Be good if Alberto works with the LAC SocMed WG members
14:24:33 From Alberto Soto : Ok Maureen, Will do
14:25:21 From Gisella Gruber : @JZ - NOTED and we will action this accordingly
14:25:45 From Gisella Gruber : Not only sending the iCal but adding the mailing list to the calendar invitation
14:25:49 From Gisella Gruber : NOTED as an AI
14:26:08 From Jonathan Zuck : Thanks! I hope the distinction is clear. Like I said, it will result in a lot of responses to you, most likely but it might be worth it
14:26:16 From Alfredo Calderon : Thank you @Gisella for the stats.
14:27:20 From Alberto Soto : By the comment schedule, Cheryl was working very early ...
14:28:26 From Michelle DeSmyter : We have Cheryl on audio now
14:30:28 From Filina Natalia : Hi all! My apologies
14:30:34 From Jonathan Zuck : I don’t have it. I’m new. What’s the link?
14:32:05 From Michelle DeSmyter : https://docs.google.com/document/d/1IoKdXA4s81j-Dbh9p7KOVzpALFl69cWXt8g5xYo88V0/edit?ts=5ecff5b9
14:33:51 From hadia Elminiawi : The global pandemic surrounding COVID-19 has driven us online for our education, business meetings, conferences, game nights and birthday parties. In the meeting context, in which the At-Large community is engaged, the situation is most dire. The “slide” driven nature of our work already posed challenges to effective engagement and those challenges have become only more acute online. Standing at a podium with a “clicker” has been replaced by hiding behind hastily thrown together PowerPoints while we provide a drowsy narration. This webinar is a refresher, as much as anything else, on what we already know makes a presentation better, with specific examples, techniques and tools available to us as “virtual” presenters. With over 20 years of training public speakers, At-Large volunteer Jonathan Zuck will take us through the basics of better presentations and better presenting.
14:35:29 From hadia Elminiawi : yes Natalia different
14:35:34 From Gisella Gruber : Is this At-Large targeted or wider audience? Just to know WHO to share this with
14:36:42 From Filina Natalia : Gisella, it is important Q. Better to define and choose the way to promote
14:37:16 From Maureen Hilyard : Is the target audience not At-Large but available to the wider audience if they are interested?
14:37:51 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : I see this one (as I see many of them actually) as focussed at/to our own ICANN Community
14:38:11 From Heidi Ullrich : Perhaps a second webinar in which ALSes/RALOs bring their stories and develop narratives for use in O/E, etc
14:38:14 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : Not Gen Pop
14:38:56 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : ICANN wide
14:38:58 From Alberto Soto : Thanks Jonathan
14:39:23 From Gisella Gruber : Thank you JZ - in which case we will again share with the other SO AC groups to share with their lists
14:39:34 From Maureen Hilyard : But the focus of the At-Large capacity building programme is At-Large primarily
14:39:44 From Jonathan Zuck : The pandemic has driven all of our presentations online. Now, more than ever, we need to improve our presentation skills. At-Large volunteer, Jonathan Zuck, will bring 20 years a presentation coach to bear, to share best practices and techniques for giving better presentations online.
14:40:38 From Filina Natalia : Sometimes it is important to clearly define the audit. And it is better not to chase two birds with one stone, because if we know the goal and audience, we will promote webinars correctly. Our community knows more. External audience can learn about the topic of the webinar for the first time. I mean all of At-Large webinars.
14:40:52 From Alberto Soto : it was old hand
14:41:04 From hadia Elminiawi : Thank you Alberto
14:41:33 From Gisella Gruber : @Alfredo - we share all our CB webinars with Siranush (fellows), Deborah (Next Gen) and Adam Peake (GSE community)
14:43:20 From Alfredo Calderon : @Gisella, agree. I have seen the messages as part of the Fellowship Program. And as a mentor we encourage their participation.
14:43:28 From Filina Natalia : Btw you know, I found At-Large Instagram yesterday!-))) last post from 2015. our channel too
14:44:05 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : perhaps a crawl : walk : run approach on this whole area
14:44:35 From Jonathan Zuck : Exactly Cheryl
14:44:43 From Alfredo Calderon : +1 JZ, agree.
14:44:56 From Heidi Ullrich : I can contact Melissa and perhaps Betsy
14:45:09 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : 2021
14:45:15 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : 2022
14:45:23 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : they are just fine
14:45:39 From Alfredo Calderon : Yes, after ICANN69 we can have a series of Skills for …
14:46:27 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : I doubt @JZ will forget
14:46:46 From Joanna Kulesza : Natalia?
14:46:47 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : it *is* his balliwick after all
14:47:07 From hadia Elminiawi : yes and Natalia for sure
14:48:33 From Alberto Soto : Soon I will send to the list a program of the training carried out in large companies that I cited moments ago. My wife is one of the professionals involved
14:50:02 From Joanna Kulesza : No need to be nervous Natalia, you're a natural!
14:50:14 From Maureen Hilyard : Natalia - you could get Glenn or Shreedeep to moderate and you run it
14:50:25 From Filina Natalia : thanks Joanna-)
14:50:38 From Filina Natalia : I guess it is better way Maureen, thanks
14:50:46 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : Indeed you will do just fine Natalia
14:51:41 From Maureen Hilyard : +1 I agree, Natalia.. you will be fine
14:51:50 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : plenty of Zoom gremlins today it seems
14:56:30 From Michelle DeSmyter : https://docs.google.com/document/d/1IoKdXA4s81j-Dbh9p7KOVzpALFl69cWXt8g5xYo88V0/edit?ts=5ecff5b9
14:56:37 From Maureen Hilyard : Have to leave now
14:57:04 From Joanna Kulesza : I'll need to switch zoom rooms as well, great meeting all, thanks a bunch!
14:57:32 From Jonathan Zuck : BETTER online presentations, not BEST
14:58:13 From Cheryl Langdon-Orr : Condensed and yes to the broader ICANN COmmunity
14:58:30 From Gisella Gruber : From Jonathan Zuck to Everyone: (8:39 pm)
