The Asia Pacific Internet Leadership Program (APILP) is a capacity building program, driven by the Asia Pacific community, that seeks to develop the Asia Pacific region’s Internet governance leaders of tomorrow. This program is run by the APILP working group and is designed to help professionals and interested parties from the Asia Pacific region better understand the global and regional Internet Governance issues and processes. At the same time, the program allows access to comprehensive and structured knowledge on the various aspects of the Internet.

The APILP working group is comprised of volunteers from various communities in the Asia Pacific region. We can be reached at apilp_discuss@apilp.asia.

June- July 2015 - APrIGF 2015 Report

We conducted 3 short APILP sessions at the recent APrIGF in Macau. The recordings for the APILP segments for the APrIGF 2015 can be found here: http://2015.rigf.asia/archives/

June 2015 - APILP as capacity building component of APrIGF

APILP has been incorporated as a capacity building component of the Asia Pacific Regional Internet Governance Forum (APrIGF) 2015. The APrIGF is an important regional event serves as a platform for discussion, exchange and collaboration at a regional level, and seeks to advance the Internet governance development in the Asia Pacific region.

The 3 approved APILP workshops will be introductory sessions for some of the discussions in the day, and will spread over 3 days of the APrIGF main conference (1-3 July). The sessions will last 45 mins each, lecture style covering:

Day 1 (1 July): 0900-0945 (General) Overview of Internet Governance – History and Current global development. Emerging issues.

Day 2 (2 July): 0900-0945 (Technical) Domain Name System; Critical Internet Resources

Day 3 (3 July): 0900-1030 (Emerging Issues) IANA Stewardship Transition / ICANN Accountability

Finalization of the Terms of Reference for the APILP (3 September 2014)

Final round of comments were received from the community on the Terms of Reference (ToR) for the APILP working group, taking into account the learning points from the pilot run of the APILP program held during the Delhi APrIGF on Aug 2014.  Thanks for the comments.

The finalized ToR, including the next steps for the APILP working group, is attached.

1st APILP Working Group Coordination Call (13 June 2014)
