ISSUE:  A.11

Clarification of language prohibiting registrars from contracting with themselves

Priority:

Not Applicable

Issue/Request

Incorporate new language in the RAA that makes it clear that a registrar cannot have a contract with itself as a registered name holder.

ICANN Staff

Notes

The language in RAA Section 3.7.7 states, “Registrar shall require all Registered Name Holders to enter into an electronic or paper registration agreement with Registrar including at least the following provisions…” This is the only language in the contract that implies that registrars are prohibited from having contracts with themselves. Express language could be considered to ensure that it is understood that Registrars cannot have contracts with themselves.
