Prof.Vivekanandan has three decades of academic, research and advocacy experience in the fields of Intellectual Property Rights, Internet & Law and International Trade laws. He holds a PhD in IPR, Master’s in Corporate Laws & Securities, Master’s in Public Administration and Bachelor of Science degrees.

He taught courses on Internet Governance for Law students since 1998 and also offers a course on cyber laws and governance to working professionals in four cities of India. He currently holds the Ministry of Human Resource Development Chair on Intellectual Property instituted by the Government of India at National Academy of Legal Studies and Research University at Hyderabad.

He was elected as the ALAC member of the Asia Pacific Region in 2008 and served in that position till 2010 and has participated in all ICANN meetings and deliberations. He has also participated in the IGF of 2008 at Hyderabad.

He has established a Centre for Global Internet Governance & Advocacy (GIGA) at NALSAR as a research centre and think tank for research and advocacy on Internet Governance, which will be conducting programmes to various stakeholders on the emerging interface of Internet Governance globally and nationally.

Since 2010 Cartagena meet of ICANN he was nominated to NOMCOM by ALAC as APARLO member and has actively participated in the processes of NOMCOM.

He also holds the position of Director of the Legal Information Institute of India, which spearheads the free access to Law movement and is the most comprehensive legal database in India (www.liiofindia.org) managed by NALSAR University of Law

He is an Adjunct Visiting Professor with the Business School of University of Buffalo, New York since 2007. He was a research fellow at the law school of Maastricht University, Netherlands under the ICCSR NWO exchange scholar of 2010. He is also an elected member of the Asia Pacific Region of ALAC to ICANN (Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers). He also serves as an advisory committee member of the Indian Patent Office.

His publications at NALSAR include- Cyber Jurisprudence, IP issues in Cyber Space and Cyber Crimes and several International Publications in field of IP laws. He serves as a ethics committee member of the AP Venture Capital fund, Ethics committee member of Administrative Staff College, Hyderabad, IP policy committee member of Indian Institute of Technology, Bhubaneshwar and advisory member to the Copyright office of Government of India.
