PURPOSE OF THIS REVIEW?
The Second Security, Stability, and Resiliency of the Domain Name System Review is mandated by ICANN Bylaws Section 4.6(c) to examine how effectively ICANN is meeting its commitment to enhance the operational stability, reliability, resiliency, security and global interoperability of the systems/processes (internal/external) that affect the Internet's unique identifiers.

18 October 2017 - The ICANN SSR Subgroup had a very productive two-day, fact-finding meeting at ICANN headquarters in Los Angeles. The subgroup met with a number of ICANN staff subject matter experts and discussed a range of issues relating to the completeness and effectiveness of ICANN’s security processes and the effectiveness of the ICANN security framework (including activities connected to the SSR2 Terms of Reference and implementation of SSR1 recommendations). 19 Jul 2017 - The SSR2 review team recently held a two-day face-to-face meeting in Johannesburg, South Africa, prior to ICANN59. The review team is examining security, operational stability, and resiliency matters related to ICANN's coordination of the Internet's system of unique identifiers.
