SOI: I am a fairly new member with an IP Attorney background. I have travelled to ICANN59 Johannesburg and been interested in the harmonization of the interests of IP owners and the geo names policy. As a member of IPC I have also brought on table for consideration that GIs as part of the TMCH system and ICANN policies do not overly focus on Europe and the US but be more globalized. I have recently got on board the New gTLD Subsequent Procedure WG to fully understand and participate how this can be achieved. As a committee member of both INTA (applied for its Internet Committee and currently on its AntiCounterfeiting), I am in a position to understand the conventional IP owners viewpoints and try to work that into the ICANN policy framework as a member of the IPC. Also I bring diversity to the table since I am an India qualified attorney now stationed in the USA to link American and European IP owners and lawfirms to Asian jurisdictions especially in conflicts identified in US301 and those related to domain names and online business. The travel support will immensely help me participate in ICANN60 at Abu Dhabi and get more and fully integrated into the policy making and harmonization processes which ICANN and IPC drive. The real challenge for the world is to align the real space with the virtual space and I opt to be part of the ICANN efforts in this direction.
