I think IPv4 will be the dominant protocol for the whole life of the internet, almost 20 years back I was hearing the same problem of IP shortage in the IPv4 and everyone should move to the IPv6, but still cannot get the reasons why the IPv6 is not yet a success story as the IPv4? maybe we will have to look for another version.

@Nabeel I guess that relates more to the cost of change: Implementing a new system where there are no previous systems can be much more economical than changing the whole infrastructure to cater for a new system while an older system is actively running
