Question. Who provides the DNS testing probes?


Answer. ICANN


 


Question. Are the testing probes made up of a specific testing network or is it made up of testing probes from multiple testing networks?


Answer. As described in Specification 10, ICANN plans to place probes as near as possible to the users of the services (e.g., DNS resolvers, registrars), on the networks with the most users across the different geographic regions.


 


Question. Is the testing network something up to the registry to determine?


Answer. No, it is for ICANN to determine based on Specification 10.


 


Question. Can ICANN provide more information on the node footprint of the testing network(s)?


Answer. For security reasons, ICANN is not planning to publish a detailed list of the probes.
