ICANN staff has proposed a few models, none of which were agreeable across the policy and technical community reviewing the topic. In order to stay within ICANN’s mandate for ensuring a stable and secure operation of the Internet, the following will be the case for the Fast Track Process launch: • Variant TLDs desired by the requester for delegation must be indicated by the requester • Desired variant TLDs will be allocated to the requester (if successfully evaluated). This does not mean that the variant TLD will be delegated in the DNS root zone. It will be allocated to the requester in order to be reserved to the entitled manager for potential future delegation in the DNS root zone. 01:25:16 Sarmad Hussain: From Section 3.4 in the Fast Track process: https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/files/idn-cctld-implementation-plan-28mar19-en.pdf 01:55:59 Lu ai-chin: so that means limiting number of delegated variant is policy matter not technical issues, right? Can I say that. 01:57:21 Lu ai-chin: @bart good point 01:57:23 Sarmad Hussain: Yes, policy can guide how to limit delegated variant labels. 02:00:29 Lu ai-chin: thanks 02:01:46 Jaap Akkerhuis: SSAC 60 is from 2013: https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/files/sac-060-en.pdf 02:04:39 Kimberly Carlson: 7th of December 02:06:58 Jaap Akkerhuis: by all
