Terri Agnew:Dear all, Welcome to the Finance and Budget Subcommittee WG Teleconference on Thursday, 22 January 2015 at 17:00 UTC
Terri Agnew:meeting page: https://community.icann.org/x/TZUQAw
Tijani BEN JEMAA:Hi Terrio
Tijani BEN JEMAA:sorry, Terri
Wolf Ludwig:Hello everybody -- I thought (at least noted) to be a member of the FBSC as well?
Wolf Ludwig:... Olivier and I from our region.
Glenn McKnight:alan is here
Glenn McKnight:From Naralo
Heidi Ullrich:WG workspace: https://community.icann.org/display/atlarge/ALAC+Subcommittee+on+Finance+and+Budget
Humberto Carrasco:I hope everybody is well
Glenn McKnight:Hi Humberto
Silvia Vivanco:I have checked Skype but no APRALO members are online atm
Heidi Ullrich:FY16 At-Large Budget Development Workspace: https://community.icann.org/display/atlarge/At-Large+FY16+Budget+Development+Workspace
Heidi Ullrich:Please look at the new criteria and the timeline
Glenn McKnight:good idea Ala
Glenn McKnight:We have promoting the NARALO ALS submissions and I think Le Marie and Ogi will be submitting a proposal
Glenn McKnight:Need to followup with them both
Glenn McKnight:Question the form has the controller address for submission , Is this correct?
Heidi Ullrich:@Glenn, the address is correct, but RALOs/ALSes should NOT send any request to this address.
Heidi Ullrich:One of the criteria is that all ALS requests need to gain RALO approval
Glenn McKnight:The form states on the top
Glenn McKnight: All questions and completed forms should be sent to email@example.com. Please remember that the deadline for FY16 Budget consideration is February 28th 2015.
Heidi Ullrich:@Glenn, correct. That is the general template. At-Large has a slightly different process. They have for several years.
Wolf Ludwig:From our side, there will be no ALS request in the region -- from EURALO only ...
Glenn McKnight:Again who does the form get sent to?
Glenn McKnight:The form needs to be fixed
Wolf Ludwig:As far as I understood, Glenn, until 4 Feb. to At-large Staff -- until 28 to ICANN fianance?
Glenn McKnight:I will let Ogi and Le Marie know this
Heidi Ullrich:@Glenn, the form is the generic template.
Heidi Ullrich:Please follow the directions here: https://community.icann.org/display/atlarge/At-Large+FY16+Budget+Development+Workspace
Glenn McKnight:Got it and I will let them know in advance
Terri Agnew:Welcome Dave Kissoondoyal
Olivier Crepin-Leblond:Welcome Dave!
Dave Kissoondoyal:Sorry for the lateness
Glenn McKnight:I like the Regional meeting idea for Ralo but I haven't seen any discussion at NARALO on this idea
Glenn McKnight:Capacity building
Heidi Ullrich:See new Meeting Strategy: https://community.icann.org/display/atlarge/At-Large+FY16+Budget+Development+Workspace
Glenn McKnight:One of the failings of Atlas 2 is the followup on the recommendations. Perhaps funding for the leaders to get together and flesh out the recommendations with tangible actions
Olivier Crepin-Leblond:wrong link
Glenn McKnight:Yes, Joe is doing Outreach to Universities in North America and we have a University of Toronto and University of Ottawa outreach in the planning
Wolf Ludwig:As far as I understood, our requests for FY-2016 should concentrate on *Inreach* and not on Outreach?
Wolf Ludwig:... Outreach projects should be done via CROPP.
Glenn McKnight:What I mentioned is Outreach not inreach
Wolf Ludwig:then it should go via CROPP, Glenn.
Glenn McKnight:Target for Joe is Journalism and Legal students
Heidi Ullrich:@Judith, captioning is a request of the Accessbility WG, which is cross RALO
Glenn McKnight:a test to prove it's validity
Wolf Ludwig:Good point Alan -- needs to be further evaluated!
judith hellerstein:leaving chat and will only be on adigo
Terri Agnew:Thank you for the update Judith
Glenn McKnight:My point
Glenn McKnight:Problem is real quality followup
Heidi Ullrich:Please note these NEW criteria
Dave Kissoondoyal:My point was that funding for capacity building should have its return. Perhaps we should consider providing the participant with a well defined curriculum, a syllabus and the participant is supposed to complete the "course" during the capacity building session - like the model of training on Internet governance by the Diplo Foundation
Wolf Ludwig:Sorry I have to leave now -- thanks and good bye
Terri Agnew:goodbye Wolf
Humberto Carrasco:I agree
Heidi Ullrich:@Olivier, from what I understand, the ALAC activity at the IGF would be intended to engage the ALSes and other people at the IGF
Glenn McKnight:Sorry which IGF?
Glenn McKnight:Isn't the IGF outreach a Cropp funded event?
Glenn McKnight:Why not
Olivier Crepin-Leblond:CROPP = 2 days & 3 nights. IGF is much longer. And if IGF is in LAC then only LAC CROPP possible
Glenn McKnight:Then ask for sponsorship from the local RIR
Glenn McKnight:make up the difference
Glenn McKnight:THink outside the box
Glenn McKnight:Some from Icann and some from elsewhere
Heidi Ullrich:There will be an FBSC meeting in Singapore: Wednesday 09:30-10:30
Heidi Ullrich:DEADLINE: 4 February for RALO requests
Heidi Ullrich:The message will be sent today
Allan Skuce:Thanks, Bye.
Dave Kissoondoyal:Thanks a lot ...good bye
