At-Large Sub-Committee on the Selection of Members for the NTIA IANA Functions' Stewardship Transition Coordination Group Monthly reports

1st Task: selection of two people from At-Large to sit on the IANA Coordination Group

• Call for candidates sent out
• Expressions of Interest received
• Conference call held to make the choice
• Two candidates selected:
  • Mohamed El Bashir
  • Jean-Jacques Subrenat
• ALAC notified of the choice
• Process complete (July 2014)

2nd Task: selection of people from At-Large to sit on an ICANN-wide accountability coordination group (ACG) (Start: August 2014)

• The ALAC has tasked this sub-committee with the selection of any members for ICANN-wide working groups, should this be required
• Slow start to the process // unknown number of candidates needed as of 24 August 2014
• In the meantime, there has been a call on the SC list that if any of its members will apply for these potential positions, they step down from the selection committee. This process is complete. (24 August 2014)
• Next tasks: re-populate vacant seats; the committee is ready operationally & will await the green light from the ICANN-wide process to launch a call for expressions of interest
• One candidate Selected in the Accountability Coordination Group:
  • Alan Greenberg
• ALAC notified of the choice (September 2014) but then the committee was cancelled.
• Process complete (October 2014)

 

3rd Task: selection of people from At-Large to sit on an ICANN-wide committee on accountability (Start: November 2014)

• The 2nd task of this working group yielded a single candidate but the CCWG's structural plans were scrapped by ICANN - hence the position to which Alan Greenberg was selected was cancelled.
• The ALAC has tasked this sub-committee with the selection of any members for ICANN-wide working groups such as one on Accountability
  • Requirement for 5 candidates, one from each region
  • ALAC has softened the regional diversity requirements, should these be untenable
• In the meantime, there has been a call on the SC list that if any of its members will apply for these potential positions, they step down from the selection committee. This process is complete and all vacant seats were repopulated by the RALOs (November 2014)
