  Evin Erdogdu: (13:54) Hello all!

Vanda Scartezini: (13:58) hi all!! nice to back again
Cheryl Langdon-Orr (CLO): (13:59) Great to have you back :-)
Vanda Scartezini: (14:00) i have no sound.. someone talk please to check sound...
Vanda Scartezini: (14:00) thank you sound ok with a little ecco
Heidi Ullrich: (14:02) Sebastien will be joining shortly.
Evin Erdogdu: (14:04) Action Items 05 Sept: https://community.icann.org/x/VQONBQ
  John Laprise: (14:06) +1 Alan
  John Laprise: (14:06) +1 Olivier
Andrea Glandon: (14:06) EPDP Workspace https://community.icann.org/x/IYEpBQ
Olivier MJ Crépin-Leblond: (14:07) EPDP Temporary Spec: https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.icann.org_resources_pages_gtld-2Dregistration-2Ddata-2Dspecs-2Den&d=DwIFaQ&c=FmY1u3PJp6wrcrwll3mSVzgfkbPSS6sJms7xcl4I5cM&r=k7uKdjSb7_ZjItyVqrCYHo_rKms9SFxlmbYEJqG-y9I&m=tauAg3n3UVjRB7ds323IpXHMnyiAilx2_EQy0AnERbY&s=slBJ_uUz8Dt123-LJ3ER_8icPQsz-IS8NHW-_PtqlfQ&e=
Andrea Glandon: (14:07) EPDP Background Documents https://community.icann.org/x/iwE5BQ
Olivier MJ Crépin-Leblond: (14:09) I found the link to the temporary specification from the EPDP Background Documents page which containts a wealth of data and files that cover many aspects of the EPDP, Contracts, GDPR, etc.
John Laprise: (14:09) A call out to the legal grounds for data collection is essential.
  John Laprise: (14:09) Agreed Alan
  Heidi Ullrich: (14:10) Welcome, Hadia.
John Laprise: (14:11) On consumer *, not a term in GDPR. We should be looking at the ePDP through a GDPR lens.
Hadia Elminiawi: (14:11) and consumer protection
Jonathan Zuck: (14:11) Agree. i would add IP folks as well since there's such a strong correlation to maleware.
Vanda Scartezini: (14:12)  yeah Jonathan my suggestion too
  Vanda Scartezini: (14:14) e]\asfghjkl;
  Vanda Scartezini: (14:14) vnm./ qawz4edxrfc 6g un 9ikm0-/=
  Vanda Scartezini: (14:14) \
John Laprise: (14:14)  IP folks are fighting an uphill battle on GDPR as IP is a tertiary concern at best within GDPR.
Vanda Scartezini: (14:14) sorry... do not know what happened with my text...
Jonathan Zuck: (14:15) They are but there's a strong correlation between piracy and maleware so we should be able to draw the necessary line between the two
Hadia Elminiawi: (14:15) initial draft report
John Laprise: (14:16) Piracy and malware are likely within the bounds of a legitimate interest rationale BUT that requires a balancing test with the privacy rights of data subjects
John Laprise: (14:20) Ty Alan & Hadia!
Jonathan Zuck: (14:20) Right but the privacy risks associated with the folks we're talking about is quite low, no? Researchers, reputational database vendors, IP lawyers, etc.
John Laprise: (14:22) They're data processors and might be data subjects. The bulk of the PII is the WHOIS
John Laprise: (14:22) It's their risk that hangs in the balance according to GDPR
Hadia Elminiawi: (14:24) So we are mainly trying to make sure that the data is there
Hadia Elminiawi: (14:25) thank you Cheryl
John Laprise: (14:25) (to add insult to injury) GDPR also has requirement to keep help PII accurate (current)...
Christopher Wilkinson: (14:25) Several comments, but not right now. I shall submit written suggestions to the draft ALAC statement.
Vanda Scartezini: (14:25) yeah hadia,  but john is right it is their risk and at the end tehy will need to adjust their process as they fill they are protected
  Vanda Scartezini: (14:26) fill; feel
Vanda Scartezini: (14:28) yeah Alan, this clause give us a lot of room to work with
Jonathan Zuck: (14:28) I think the biggest risk is having the data be public for spams and such
John Laprise: (14:29) that third party rationale is much weaker than many in the community are betting
Hadia Elminiawi: (14:30) yes sure vanda - we need to make sure that there are no risks for anyone
Vanda Scartezini: (14:30) Jonathan. the big risk is, depend on the region, to be sue without no reason and spend lots fo money defending themselves
Marita Moll: (14:30) I can talk about my part of item 5 any time
Andrea Glandon: (14:30) Here is the link I will get it posted as well https://community.icann.org/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=74587834
Evin Erdogdu: (14:31) Thank you @Andrea
Alan Greenberg: (14:31) The original need for whois is to contact someone over technical issues. So that information will need to be available pretty well universally. To what extent it is anonymized is a different question. It is far from clear how you can meet that need and not be subject to spam.
Alan Greenberg: (14:32) It is hard to imagine that we can debug the DNS with paper mailing addresses only, so either phone number of e-mail is pretty well required.
Alan Greenberg: (14:32) But perhaps I am not being sufficiently imaginative.
Evin Erdogdu: (14:33) @Jonathan - Next Steps on Reviews
  Evin Erdogdu: (14:33) https://community.icann.org/display/alacpolicydev/At-Large+Workspace%3A+Next+Steps+on+Reviews
  Jonathan Zuck: (14:33) right. thanks.
John Laprise: (14:34) ICANN could run a private email system for the WHOIS list. Require everyone on the WHOIS list must get an ICANN email address to which official communications are sent.
  Hadia Elminiawi: (14:36) +1 Cheryl
Cheryl Langdon-Orr (CLO): (14:37) Woe AG  don't ask too much!
John Laprise: (14:37) It's on my Saturday AM reading list. :)
Cheryl Langdon-Orr (CLO): (14:37) read the whole 4 pages ;-)
Hadia Elminiawi: (14:38) Will do Cheryl - 4 pages are not much
Eduardo Diaz - NARALO: (14:40) shall we scrap it and use Joanna to do something else?
Cheryl Langdon-Orr (CLO): (14:41) and IDN's is an essential improvement for the fields
Hadia Elminiawi: (14:41) I could try on this one
Vanda Scartezini: (14:41) i thought this was implemented already CLO
Cheryl Langdon-Orr (CLO): (14:42) That makes sense to me JZ
Vanda Scartezini: (14:42) was not pying enough attention to this
  John Laprise: (14:42) second JZ
Cheryl Langdon-Orr (CLO): (14:42) No Vanda not in all record fields  ;-(
  Hadia Elminiawi: (14:42) ok JZ
John Laprise: (14:43) Jonathan: ask Joanna first about whether she wants help...she's quite acomplished.
  Jonathan Zuck: (14:44) sounds good
Evin Erdogdu: (14:44) Registration Directory Service (RDS-WHOIS2) Review Team Draft Report of Recommendations
  Evin Erdogdu: (14:44) https://community.icann.org/display/alacpolicydev/At-Large+Workspace%3A+Registration+Directory+Service+%28RDS-WHOIS2%29+Review+Team+Draft+Report+of+Recommendations
John Laprise: (14:46) For that we should send it back to the RT to start at square one...:)
Eduardo Diaz - NARALO: (14:46) @Alan:  maybe you want to be the penholder for this one (ja!)
Cheryl  (CLO): (14:50) a ** Very inportant** question to explore @Alan
Cheryl  (CLO): (14:51) and CONGRATULATIONS on that JZ
  Cheryl  (CLO): (14:52) ;-)
Hadia Elminiawi: (14:53) +1 for a little more time
Alan Greenberg: (14:53) Two webinars on the draft report next Monday!
  Jonathan Zuck: (14:54) excellent
Cheryl  (CLO): (14:55) Hmmm not in my calendar
Cheryl  (CLO): (14:56) I should copy it as I do most things off the At-Large Calendar then
Eduardo Diaz - NARALO: (14:56) Olivier: When you said Agenda you meant in the ALAC Clanedar?
Eduardo Diaz - NARALO: (14:56) Calendar
Cheryl  (CLO): (14:56) I assumed so Eduardo
Alfredo Calderon: (14:57) @Eduardo, I understand that it is the ALAC Calenredar. It is  not on it.
Olivier MJ Crépin-Leblond: (14:57) @Eduardo -- yes, the At-LArge Calendar you are right. Sorry for wrong choice of word
  Jonathan Zuck: (15:05) Agree
Vanda Scartezini: (15:08) agree Nadira. we had in the last round a community application becoming registry nowadays ( after a awful process of auction)
  Alan Greenberg: (15:10) https://community.icann.org/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=88573813
Nadira AL-Araj: (15:10) Yes, Vanda, and that would be good for emerging community registry
Nadira AL-Araj: (15:11) And that where I belive community application support come in place
Christopher Wilkinson: (15:13) @JZ I send comments to the list which sends me the drafts. Is that OK?
  Vanda Scartezini: (15:13) + 1 nadira
Christopher Wilkinson: (15:15) Predictability: lets take that off ine. Not sure where to ut them.
Christopher Wilkinson: (15:16) Not sure where to put them.

  Jonathan Zuck: (15:22) indeed
Vanda Scartezini: (15:22) sure Alan.. we are seeing this happens in this regions with registrars not ready to be open to new gTLDs even not IDNs
  Cheryl  (CLO): (15:25) Thanks JZ
Eduardo Diaz - NARALO: (15:25) @all: need to read the comment. UA is not IDN only. We have include TLDs as well.
