This Community Wiki page is designed to provide details and historical documentation about the IDN (Internationalized Domain Name) Variant TLDs (Top-Level Domain) Issues Project (now IDN Variant TLDs Program) and to support the IDN Variant TLDs Community.
The Internationalized Domain Name (IDN) Variant TLDs Issues Project deals with the variant form of top-level domain (TLD) names in different scripts and consists of multiple projects in multiple phases.

The program is currently in its third phase with three projects in progress following the program plan posted with an announcement on http://www.icann.org/en/news/announcements/announcement-23aug12-en.htm.
Next Phase and Projects:
Upon completion of the Phase 3, and subject to ICANN Board approval, the Program will proceed to Phase 4 , which will include projects expected to focus on the implementation of IDN Variant TLDs.
