Discussion of preparing a NARALO statement on the new gTLDs for submission to the US Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation.

The discussion of NARALO thread has been concerned about the statements by ICANN to the committee.

The subcommittee discussed the new GTLD's, speakers included Angela Williams of YMCA on behalf of the Non Profit organizations, citing concerns about protections, need more time for execution.
He also cited that Andrew Dyson (CHECK) presented ....
The committee was concerned about the new GTLD vision. They all advocated for a slow down and rethink. Not to proceed on schedule.

Joly expressed equal concerns on this topic, reiterating that transparency is needed. The users need a voice in the hearings

Concerning the public interest and we need to create a consensus tool to gain NARALO statement for these hearings

He has a word of caution on responding to the comments to the committee, especially the tradesmark an advertising special interest groups.
The non profit sector (THIRD SECTOR) has equal right to express their concerns as well
We need to balanced in our response to the rhetoric from the current hearings.

I think their is legitimacy in some of the points brought up by groups, my main concern is previous and current state of affairs, the same cast of registrars which will mean the same old approach.

Law enforcements is critical in handling public complaints and concerns.

We need to agree on a statement to Congress. They need to know that ATLARGE exists , VP Kurt left out ALAC in his presentation. The public interest was absent. We need to make sure that ICANN has a body concerned about the public interest.

Raise the concern about a person on the Registrar group on the NOMCOM as the Chair in waiting

He is the Chair Elect on NOMCOM and will be the Chair for next year. Note it is a non voting position
We can collect any knowledge of current ALAC members on how he is performing. What he has been told that Robert Hall has integrity and capable.

I also find Robert Hall is diligent but we need to raise the possibility of conflict of interest, it is a matter of perception

People on these committees should speak out. Given though he can't vote he does have influence
He has a history of balance
The optics is a concern regardless of his diligence etc

The brochure when arrived they look good. Request a proper version in PDF for suitable printing
